Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director of Radiology has the responsibility of planning, directing, coordinating, and managing resources (human, material, and financial) to drive high quality, high service/satisfaction, and cost-efficient care. The Director is responsible for all tasks and duties that relate to the department and how the department is perceived by stakeholders. The director will oversee all functions related to outpatient and inpatient imaging and appropriate supports departments and leaders whose patient population requires imaging services. The director will collaborate with nursing and ancillary departments and physician practices. The director will engage and work with the Medical Director of Imaging Services.
- You will Oversee the daily operations of imaging services
- You will develop and implement organizational plans to ensure care provided is aligned with best practices in terms of quality, service, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- You will promote cooperation and collaboration with departments and stakeholders that contribute to the care and service of the patients served.
- You will analyze problems and make recommendations to the COO on issues, services, and programs.
- You will formulate policies and implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance.
- You will maintain current knowledge of Federal regulations and other Regulatory bodies; i.e. TJC, CMS, OSHA, and other standards applicable to various areas and support operations to satisfy laws, mandates and regulatory requirements.
- You will review and monitor physician, patient, and employee satisfaction surveys. In collaboration with Managers and Supervisors, develops and implements action plans to drive improvements.
- You will maintain current policy, procedure and regulatory manuals
- You will make self consistently available formally and informally to employees, medical staff, and colleagues.
- You will engage in and participate in budget preparation. Works closely with the COO to achieve or exceed budgeted expectations.
- You will oversee the development of process improvement plans and activities around quality, service and cost.
- You will manage relationships with vendors to support the needs and goals of the department/service line.
- You will work collaboratively with supply chain and CFO to effectively manage supplies and expenses
- You will communicate consistently and effectively with his/her team(s), lead by example and create a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and engagement.
- You will establish goals for the successful operations of the department and service line. Communicate and engage individuals and teams in achieving goals. Track/trend data to determine progress/deterioration towards the goals.
- You will create and drive a culture of accountability: adhere to personnel policies for recruitment, hiring, directing and disciplinary actions for staff.
- You will ensure completion of performance appraisal at established timeframes.
- You will establish/maintain a department organizational structure to meet the goals of the department and service line.
- You will identify clinical and professional learning and developmental needs of staff members, and develop and execute plans to meet those needs on an ongoing basis.
- You will provide constructive feedback for department staff related to performance on an ongoing basis.
- You will monitor the productivity of departments including, but not limited to achievement of productivity targets, overtime, and agency utilization. Modify within limits of available staff/extenuating circumstances.
- You will establish consistent means and methodologies to seek feedback from and follow up with key stakeholders on the strengths and opportunities of the department/service line.
- You will identify the changing environment and projected impact on staff, departments, and hospitals and facilitate staff adaptation to change.
- You will embody and demonstrate values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence
- You will base decisions and actions on data. Utilize performance improvement strategies to manage the department (e.g. PDCA)
- You will create and drive a positive culture to retain and attract high-quality personnel
- You will communicate expectations and needs to stakeholders.
- You will serve as a liaison with all facility departments and sales representatives.
- You will apprise the COO/CEO/CFO of the current departments’ status and significant issues in a timely manner and present recommended solutions or needs to resolve.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology or other imaging field (ultrasound, nuc med) required.
- 5+ years Radiology/Imaging experience and two years in health care management.
- BLS required
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Must have one of the following: ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS.
