Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship – Boca Raton, FL.
The Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship develops and leads a campus-wide plan to steward major and principal donors, and is charged with strategically aligning stewardship, donor engagement, and donor recognition efforts with Advancement priorities to ensure the division meets its fundraising goals. The Director will engage internal colleagues, donors, alumni and the campus community at large to bring a donor-centered approach that provides consistent and exceptional donor experiences across all giving levels.
Summary of Responsibilities include:
+ Critically assess, design, and implement changes to Institutional Advancement’s gift stewardship program, to ensure that it aligns fully with industry best practices.
+ Develop highly personalized, strategic donor relations plans for principal prospects and donors ($5 million+), in conjunction with central and constituent Directors of Development.
+ Partner with the Events team and college, campus, and unit colleagues to plan programming for major donor stewardship events and visits.
+ Develop a robust program of impact reporting for high-level donors.
+ Assess the value of a lifetime giving recognition society; consider society inductions, recognition opportunities, and events; envision new and unique recognition opportunities and develop customized benefits for each giving society level; and oversee the planning and execution of exclusive events for recognition society members.
+ Provide direction and oversight for donor recognition, including recognition societies, the annual endowed fund report, honor roll, gift publicity, plaques, and dedications of named spaces during the comprehensive campaign.
+ In concert with the Executive Director for Advancement Communications, manage and complete complex publications, personalized books, and other stewardship pieces for top prospects. Oversee the gift acknowledgment process through work with the Donor Relations Coordinator to ensure that all gifts and gift commitments from donors are thanked in a timely and meaningful fashion by the appropriate staff and that the acknowledgment program supports stewardship best practices.
+ Manage the process and timeline to provide annual endowed fund stewardship reports to donors.
+ Collaborate with Annual Giving staff to develop a comprehensive stewardship plan aimed at enhancing donor acquisition and retention strategies.
+ Contribute to the annual giving calendar to align goals, resources, and data between donor relations and annual giving in order to create a seamless donor-giving and stewardship cycle, fostering a robust and engaged donor pipeline.
+ Manage Donor Relations budget.
+ Supervise the Associate Director of Stewardship - Principal Gifts, and the Donor Relations Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Substantial and progressively responsible experience in stewardship and donor relations, with proven experience stewarding high net worth donors in a non-profit organization required; preferably in a higher ed setting.
Proven ability to anticipate needs, identify and analyze a variety of issues, make recommendations, and/or take action to resolve or prevent them.
Able to work independently and as part of a team, manage projects, determine priorities, and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
Comfortable working in a complex, multi-sector, dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills, as well as an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills and writing and editing skills.
Able to perform well under pressure and within strict time constraints with the highest degree of accuracy and diplomacy.
Experience with donor relations/stewardship in a comprehensive campaign.
Salary:
$105,000 - $115,000 per year.
