Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Patient Care Services is a professional registered nurse responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing care provided by a designated healthcare team. This role includes twenty-four-hour responsibility for the unit’s standards, staffing, leadership, decision-making, fiscal guidelines, and departmental relationships. The Director fosters a supportive, professional environment for physicians, staff, and patients and is committed to Performance Improvement.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
Minimum Experience/Skills:
- Three to five years of management experience
License/Certificates/Credentials:
- Current Registered Nursing license for the state of California
Physical Demands:
- Extensive standing/walking
- Ability to lift, position, and push up to 25 pounds
- Manual dexterity and mobility
Vision Requirements:
- Sufficient vision to perform job duties
Working Conditions:
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
- Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)
- Emergency and crisis situations
- Irregular hours
- Occasional pressure from multiple calls and inquiries
Vaccination Requirement:
- Compliance with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination
- Proof of full vaccination or approval of a religious/medical exemption required prior to start date
- Regular testing required if exempted
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice
- Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven leadership ability and operational knowledge in a hospital setting
- Serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing profession
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or a BSN
- Preferred: MSN or master’s in a healthcare-related field
Experience:
- Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position
Certifications:
- Preferred: RN license
