Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Engineering to oversee all engineering activities that align with the company's vision for growth and innovation. This role is essential in establishing goals and objectives for the engineering department, which includes a diverse team of manufacturing, chemical, electrical, and controls engineers. You will be responsible for project management, capital budgets, and regulatory compliance.

This role is essential in establishing goals and objectives for the engineering department, which includes a diverse team of manufacturing, chemical, electrical, and controls engineers. You will be responsible for project management, capital budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engineering standards and best practices across the organization.
- Evaluate current processes to recommend improvements, including cost reduction strategies.
- Research and assess new technologies and manufacturing opportunities to optimize processes and infrastructure.
- Lead the development and management of the engineering team, focusing on talent development and succession planning.
- Create and execute the Capital Management plan for multiple plants, including project development and implementation.
- Direct training and technical leadership for staff on equipment operations, safety standards, and maintenance practices.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on environmental compliance and regulatory programs.
- Provide engineering expertise on meat industry processes, including mechanical systems such as refrigeration and boilers.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Management Responsibilities:
- Oversee personnel within the engineering group for cooked meat facilities.
- Resolve internal stakeholder issues, ensuring effective coordination and prioritization of deliverables.
- Promote the continuous education of staff through professional organizations and networks.
- Supervise departmental costs, personnel, and operational methods.
- Responsible for the hiring and termination of personnel.
- Establish performance standards and ensure adherence to organizational policies.
- Participate in the Performance Management Process.
- Administer timecard approvals and time-off requests.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering preferred.
- 8-10 years of leadership experience in an engineering department within the food manufacturing sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food industry standards, including sanitary design, process controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects.
- Self-starter with strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey information clearly at all organizational levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering-specific software, including AutoCAD.
