About the Job
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
- Develop strategies and plans to drive innovation, vitality and functional excellence.
- Develop, implement, and supervise unified (standard) engineering processes, policies, and methods while identifying and mitigating issues, risks, and barriers.
- Organize, implement, and control project management and administration functions to ensure Stage Gate projects are delivered on time and within scope and budget.
- Provide technical leadership to all engineering and development areas and facilitate technical decision-making with an emphasis on maintainability, scalability, and performance.
- Liaise between Engineering and other functional departments: Partner with Product Management and TechOps teams to drive technical projects and ensure product delivery and provide responsive engineering assistance to Operations and Commercial personnel and customers.
- Guide and support Sustaining Engineering to ensure responsive engineering support to operations to meet Customer expectations.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and internal stakeholders as required.
- Collaborate with the Technology Innovation team to ensure efficient transfer of technology from Research to Development teams.
- Work with the VP of Engineering on strategic planning for the team and associated roadmap.
- Gain a wide understanding of our full product offering and take the opportunity to jump into the most crucial and complex projects as needed.
- Organize and control all lab functions including project testing and equipment testing.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
People Development and Leadership
- Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including Health and Safety, Performance Management, Stage Gate Process, Quality Standards, Ethics Policy
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; employee development; Planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ability to motivate others. Cultivate a collaborative learning culture where individuals are inspired to continuously improve, be their best, and make significant impact. Support the growth and development of team members by setting the conditions for them to flourish both personally and professionally.
Education & Experience
- S. in Electrical, or Software Development Engineering or equivalent in education and experience.
- Proven track record of leading successful new product introductions, IP creation and raising performance of engineering teams.
- 8+ years' experience in project engineering, project management, with at least 5 years' experience in managing professional engineering departments.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and consensus across teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to execute continuous improvement. Experienced with the scaling stage of product launches and the challenges which arise on cross-functional projects.
Travel Requirements
Domestic and international travel may be required up to 15%.
