GavinHeath is partnering with a client in the Colorado energy sector looking to add a Director of Engineering to their team. The role is a Direct Hire position. The Director of Engineering is a key role responsible for leading and managing the engineering department. This role involves providing strategic leadership, fostering innovation, and ensuring the successful completion of engineering projects aligned with business objectives. The Director of Engineering will oversee the design and development of new products and systems, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership:
- Provide leadership for a diverse team of engineers, ensuring collaboration and synergy to achieve business goals.
- Implement a strategic vision for the engineering team, aligning with overall business objectives and corporate goals.
- Foster a positive culture that maximizes productivity, encourages innovation, and minimizes employee attrition.
- Project Management:
- Oversee the applications engineering team in researching, collecting, and reporting information on company products and competing equipment.
- Manage the design, development, and improvement of equipment and systems to meet customer needs.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities effectively.
- Advisory and Oversight:
- Act as an advisor to the engineering team on projects, tasks, and operations, leveraging extensive experience and judgment.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to address and resolve issues promptly.
- Implement and enforce approved corporate policies, ensuring compliance by all managers and staff.
- Perform administrative functions, including approving proposals, managing expenditures, and overseeing recruitment processes.
- Budget and Financial Management:
- Plan and develop the department's operating and capital budgets.
- Manage expenses to conform to budget constraints, ensuring financial responsibility and accountability.
- Drive business decisions that are financially responsible, justifiable, and aligned with the company's vision and strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Present engineering plans, progress updates, and situational reports to project stakeholders and financiers.
- Maintain strong interpersonal skills to work well with and influence teams and stakeholders enthusiastically.
- Innovation and Compliance:
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the company's products competitive.
- Ensure a strong grasp of local and federal laws and regulations governing engineering governance in public projects.
- Foster a growth mindset, passion for learning, and willingness to change and adapt perspectives when collaborating with teammates from diverse backgrounds.
- Educational Background:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- Experience:
- 7-12 years of experience in managing engineering services.
- Prior experience in Maintenance, Engineering, and/or Quality responsibilities.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Must have a strategic mindset in identifying new technologies and leading corporate engineering goals.
- Proven ability to lead product improvement initiatives for existing equipment.
- Excellent grasp of local and federal laws and regulations governing engineering projects.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to work well with and influence teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in team leadership, coaching, and project management.
- Certifications:
- Six Sigma certification is required; Master Black Belt and Lean Certification are a plus.
