Description: Short's Travel Management, a leading provider of NCAA Athletic travel for collegiate athletics has a immediate opening for a Director of Events & NCAA Conference Center with it's Event Planning & Meeting department at the NCAA Conference Center in Indianapolis, IN. Location: On-site in Indianapolis, IN This role is responsible for managing Short's Travel meeting planning staff and overseeing meeting and event planning aspects of the NCAA Conference Center. This includes sourcing, contracting, planning, team building, reporting, executing and reconciliation. This position will be responsible for working with internal Short's staff, NCAA stakeholders, liaisons, vendors, and venues to organize and coordinate planning and execution of NCAA meetings and events. This person will possess exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Data analysis for decision making is a key component for this position. Essential Functions:Demonstrates proficient meeting and event planning knowledge, skill, and ability specifically as it relates to the sourcing, contracting, planning, team building, execution, reporting, and reconciliation.Successfully plans events as needed and/or supports other meeting planners, including space allocations, decorator, catering, audio visual, security, food/beverage, staffing, registration, housing and transportation, at designated venues. On-site event management required. Learns and manages fully all areas of Short's Travel's proprietary systems including PlanningPoint registration and meeting request site, hotel inventory, rooming lists and registration as well as third party systems for communication and project tracking (Delphi, Vivian, Asana).Utilizes exceptional customer service capabilities: above average listening, negotiating, organizational and communication skills, creative thinking and problem solving, detail oriented with excellent follow through. Builds strong, productive relationships with NCAA staff, vendors, hotel sales managers, national sales offices, etc. to ensure customer satisfaction.Demonstrates the ability to be a good team player: cross-trained or available for cross utilization, dependable and reliable, is flexible with the ability to multi-task.We are a team at Short's Travel Management and as such, you may be expected to assist in other departments or handle tasks outside of your typical position scope for the benefit of our clients or company. Requirements: Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience AND5 years previous experience in hospitality, event or meeting managementCMP designation a plus.Strong experience in hotel and vendor negotiations required.Flexibility to travel and/or work a flexible schedule (i.e., non-traditional hours) as needed.Strong written and oral communication skills.Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint) Proven aptitude for technology and/or software solutions and analytical skills required.PlanningPoint, Delphi, Vivian, Asana, Smartsheet, Sharepoint Short's Travel Management (STM) is a family-owned, women-owned, private corporation.
