Director of Faith Integration and Service, University Chaplain - Baptist Memorial Health

Summary

Leads and develops faith and pastoral care activities to promote the spiritual development needs of students, faculty and staff. Directs community service activities for the university in collaboration with other university departments and BMHCC Community Service Department. Provides vision and leadership developing and implementing strategic planning and assessment for the Office of Faith and Service. Helps to promote a culture of global awareness and inclusion. Serves as a liaison with BMHCC Pastoral Care to promote a collaborative relationship. Performs managerial functions for area of responsibility by effective use of human and fiscal resources. Under the general supervision of the President, responsible for 1 shift/8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Incumbent is subject to hours beyond the normal work day. The person in this position will serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). A CSA has significant responsibility for student and campus activities and is designated as an individual to whom students and employees should report criminal offenses. It is the responsibility of the CSA to report to the Security Office all allegations of crimes when it does not violate confidentiality of student or employee.

Responsibilities

• Develops, directs and implements a vision of spiritual development and programming that supports the University Mission.
• Develops, directs and oversees faith-based missions and service by the university community to promote awareness of service needs within local, regional and global communities.
• Collaborates with University Leadership to integrate spirituality into campus life to help students, faculty and staff grow in living out the Christian mission of the University.
• Provides pastoral care and leadership to meet the spiritual needs of students, faculty, and staff.
• Directs the overall Office of Faith and Service by being responsible for all the policies, personnel, budget and operations.
• Promotes positive relationships and communication with faith groups and organizations and with the Pastoral Staff at BMHCC.
• Serves as a leader on key University councils and committees.
• Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Desired: Doctorate of Ministry from an accredited seminary

Desired: Two years experience as a Chaplain or Campus Ministry director in a college or university setting.Active church membership in a Baptist congregation.
