Director of Food and Nutrition | Temporary, 6 Months | Onsite, Aston, PA | $46/hour
Are you a Food and Nutrition Leader interested in positively impacting the lives of school age children? A Delaware County school district in Aston, PA is looking to fulfill a 6-Month Contract for Food Service Director.
A Day in the Life of a Director of Food Service:
The Director of Food and Nutrition will be responsible for the daily operations of a food and beverage preparation and service department. They will oversee food service personnel, ensure food quality, and establish standards for food storage and inventory:
Required Certifications and/or Licenses. The Food Service Director must have the following credentials:
Required Experience. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in private or public sector with food service work, experience with supervisory responsibilities, estimating, budgeting, contractor coordination and employee evaluations.
Leadership Experience. At least two (2) years of leadership experience.

The Director of Food and Nutrition will be responsible for the daily operations of a food and beverage preparation and service department. They will oversee food service personnel, ensure food quality, and establish standards for food storage and inventory:
- Food quality: Monitor food preparation and storage areas, and ensure food tastes, smells, and temperatures are of the desired quality
- Purchasing: Develop guidelines for purchasing food and supplies to meet customer preferences, nutrition objectives, and other needs
- Food storage: Establish standards for receiving, storing, and inventorying food and supplies
- Policies and procedures: Develop and document policies and procedures for food service operations
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with standards set by regulatory, certifying, and accrediting bodies
- Staff management: Supervise food service staff and conduct regular meetings with them
- Approving specifications for food, equipment, and supplies
- Reviewing maintenance work orders
- Administering the facility's quality assurance program
- Directing the review and revision of the facility's diet manual
Required Certifications and/or Licenses. The Food Service Director must have the following credentials:
- A valid PA Driver’s License;
- A PRSBA registration; and
- A nutrition specialists certificate;
Required Experience. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in private or public sector with food service work, experience with supervisory responsibilities, estimating, budgeting, contractor coordination and employee evaluations.
Leadership Experience. At least two (2) years of leadership experience.
