POSITION SUMMARY:
As a critical member of the Controller's Office, the Director of Gift and Grant Accounting will have regular oversight of all BMCHS gifts and grant accounting. This would include but would not be limited to receipt processing of gifts and grants including regular production of monthly statements for appropriate stakeholders. The Director will manage day-to-day financial processing activities and ensure smooth operations related to all gifts and grants. The Director will serve as an integral link between the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Development Office to ensure that all accounting and auditing requirements are satisfied and respond to internal/external requests for accurate and timely information. The Director also works closely with the BMCHS community to ensure fiscal sponsorship compliance and reporting. The Director will assist in tracking and reporting on key performance metrics as it relates to monthly transactions and impact on budget, cash management and investments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Responsible for managing all aspects of the BMCHS gift and grant accounting. Specific job duties include the following:
- Perform monthly reconciliation to ensure that the accounting related to gifts and grants within the general ledger are aligned and accurately reflect monthly activity and provide a monthly review of multiyear grants to ensure the recording of liabilities is in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure that all donor records reflect any credit card transactions, check deposits, stock transactions, wires, and ACH transfers.
- Ensure that transactions related to gifts and grants are accurately coded and recorded and in compliance with US GAAP and existing auditing standards.
- Provide internal and external support for inquiries related to gifts and grants.
- Maintain and improve processes to support timely, effective and efficient processing related to gifts and grants.
- Engage in the review of the existing enterprise system to facilitate efficient operation and financial management of the gift and grant portfolio on the BMCHS Financial Statements.
- Assist with the definition, documentation, and implementation of processes in the financial system to improve operational performance as well as ensure effective internal controls over financial operations.
- Participate in monthly and year-end close to accurately prepare and report financial information and enable strategic decisions, as well as preparation of schedules to support the annual audit and tax returns.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing procedures and the preparation of related statements for gifts and grants.
- Provide dashboard and key performance metric reporting as requested to other managerial, executive, and board-level team members.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from four-year college or university required; Master's Degree Preferred;
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Optional; Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Optional;
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 10 years related experience and/or training
- Experience with accounting software, inter-fund accounting for subsidiary entities; nonprofit accounting preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
