Position Summary:
Join Didion's dynamic team as the leader of our grain procurement and commodity sales teams, driving the company's growth strategy. In this pivotal role, you will provide guidance to a team of motivated professionals, collaborating closely with internal and external partners. As an expert in commodity trading, you'll leverage your finance and economics acumen, overseeing trades, managing risk, and contributing significantly to profitability. Your strategic insights will be instrumental in optimizing purchasing outcomes and fostering strong supplier relationships, positioning Didion as the partner of choice. Safety, performance, and partnership are paramount in this role, as you champion Didion's safety culture, lead a high-performing team, and drive innovation in procurement strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coaching to the team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Oversee corn and bean procurement, ethanol sales, and other co-products, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation.
- Establish KPIs and report regularly on procurement/trading goals, minimizing commodity risk and optimizing costs.
- Cultivate strong relationships with growers, serving as a trusted advisor in marketing strategies.
- Actively engage in community networking and association activities, representing Didion positively.
- Lead cross-functional teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lower operational costs.
- Own the Supplier Farm to Market Collaboration program, ensuring strong traceability protocols.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, finance, grain science or related field.
- Extensive knowledge of commodity markets, especially corn, soybeans, and biofuels.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with 5 years in strategic sourcing.
- Track record of building and leading effective commodity teams.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Experience in logistics, sustainability, and futures/options trading.
- Proven ability to analyze industry trends and identify emerging opportunities.
