Carpenter's Place, a Christian faith-based organization is seeking a full-time dedicated and compassionate Director of Guest Services who has the capacity to deliver services through a trauma informed lens. This individual will oversee all operations, staff members, and adult homeless guests of our center.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health, domestic violence, human trafficking, and physical challenges. Strong leadership skills are required to be successful in this role, and the ability to enforce policies and procedures, as well as making strategic decisions for the benefit of our shelter, staff and those that we serve.
The Director will oversee the operations of the Day Center, ensuring the welfare and safety of all and promoting positive interactions with volunteers and donors working with the guests. The Director's responsibilities include ensuring that all are treated with dignity and respect.
- Overseeing the daily operations of the Day Center (opening and closing)
- Ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all
- Ensure positive interactions with volunteers/donors working with Day Center staff/guests
- Recruit, interview, and orient applicants/new staff
- Supervising, training, and managing staff
- Prepare, manage, and maintain records of all services and submission of reports timely
- Ability to use multiple databases for grant reporting and data entry
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance
- Follow and implement shelter policies and procedures
- Intervene and enforce consequences related to guest's behavior
- Oversee the process, ensuring transitional housing programs are fully occupied
- Overseeing and coordinating dayroom activities for the guest/transitional housing participants
- Ensuring and maintaining facility cleanliness and safety standards
- Building relationships with community partners and stakeholders to ensure that resource information is shared with guests
- Attend stakeholder meetings, present and promote positive interagency and community relationships
Education/Experience: Candidate with a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a similar setting with leadership responsibilities. Candidates without a degree may be considered with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar setting and leadership responsibilities. Mental health and substance abuse services experience preferred. Excellent verbal, written communication and computer skills are required.
