About the Job
The Director of IT Certification Programsprovides direct and indirect support for non-academic certification Workforce Development IT training programs. Responsibilities include training, curriculum content development, coaching, employer outreach, instructor coordination, and student recruitment. The positionworks closely with the Director, Trocaire Technology Institute, the Associate Director of WFD, with ultimate responsibility to the Vice President of Innovation and WFD. The position is primarily funded by an Empire State Development Workforce Development Challenge Grant for a period of two years (February 2023).
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide technical training and instruction for students in WFD programs.
- Designs and manages training programs, instruction, and course content.
- Conducts program participant coaching with a focus on success pathways including industry certification such as with CompTIA and other IT industry recognized certifications and badges.
- Works with colleagues to execute funded and grant related programs.
- Is actively involved in the recruitment process.
- Conducts employer outreach in support of internships and employment.
- Serve as a contributor to WFD and technology-related grants, and community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in an IT discipline, business or related field with appropriate industry experience.
- A proven record of excellence in training or demonstrated evidence of training potential.
- Experience training in synchronous and asynchronous modalities.
- Coaching: Ability to meet students where they are and guide them to successful outcomes;
- Experience with content creation and delivery, in an environment where the success metrics include student retention, completion, and attainment of certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in an IT discipline, education, business, analytics or related field with appropriate industry experience
- IT certifications in subject areas taught, and or the ability and motivation to earn certifications as recommended by the Director, Trocaire Technology Institute.
- Experience in project development and management
- Experience providing IT and Project Management consulting services.
