Director of IT Operations
Remote | Full Time - in Austin, TX area
Key Focus Areas:
IT Management:
Takes responsibility for the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance (including storage and communication of data, voice, text, audio and images) and effective use of IT infrastructure components and monitors their performance. Provides technical management of an IT operation, ensuring that agreed service levels are met and all relevant procedures are adhered to. Schedules and supervises all maintenance and installation work. Ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved. Provides appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users and managers. Ensures that operational procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current.
IT Strategy and Planning:
Ensures that all stakeholders adhere to IT strategic management approach and timetables. Collates information and creates reports and insights to support IT strategic management processes. Develops and communicates function area roadmap and tactical plans aligned to the strategy. Contributes to the development of policies, standards and guidelines for IT strategy development and planning.
Financial Management:
Advises on financial planning and budgeting. Develops financial plans and forecasts. Monitors and manages IT expenditure, ensuring that all IT financial targets are met, and examining any areas where budgets and expenditure exceed their agreed tolerances. Assists with the definition and operation of effective financial control and decision-making, especially in the areas of service, projects, and component cost models and the allocation and apportionment of all incurred IT costs. Analyzes actual expenditure, explains variances, and advises on options in use of available budget.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee the management of AWS and Azure cloud operations, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and security of our cloud-based infrastructure.
- Develop and implement strategies for Microsoft 365 infrastructure, including administration, support, and migration plans.
- Manage physical data center operations, ensuring compliance with industry best practices, efficiency, and security.
- Oversee office infrastructure, including network, hardware, and software resources, to ensure seamless operations and support for all employees.
- Oversee the service desk function, ensuring the timely resolution of technical issues and the delivery of exceptional customer service.
- Ensure efficient life-cycle management of end-user devices following industry best practices.
- Develop and manage IT operations budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support business needs.
- Collaborate with other IT leaders to develop and execute long-term strategic technology plans and roadmaps.
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation to support IT operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Continuously evaluate IT operations performance and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
- Lead and mentor a team of IT operations professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud operations, Microsoft 365 infrastructure, data center management and end-user device management at scale.
- Working understanding of ITIL and ITSM
- Proven experience managing IT service desk functions and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and cost optimization.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and security standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
