Job Title: Director of Laboratory

Location: Beckley, WV 25801

Salary: $101,000 - $136,000 (depending on experience)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Director of Laboratory to oversee the operations of our hospital laboratory in Beckley, WV. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory science and leadership, with extensive experience in hospital settings. This role is critical in ensuring that our laboratory services are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction for all laboratory services, including Chemistry, Blood Bank, Pathology, and other related areas.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of test results and laboratory services.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set forth by The Joint Commission (TJC) and other accrediting bodies.
• Manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, to maintain a highly skilled and motivated team.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with best practices and regulatory standards.
• Oversee budget management, resource allocation, and inventory control to ensure the laboratory operates efficiently and within financial parameters.
• Collaborate with other departments and medical staff to ensure that laboratory services meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers.
• Lead quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives to maintain the highest standards of laboratory practice.
• Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on laboratory performance, including metrics on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and methodologies, implementing new procedures as appropriate.

Must-Haves:

1. Education & Experience:
• Masters Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in laboratory management.
• OR Bachelors Degree with 6 years of experience in lieu of a Masters.
2. Industry Experience: Extensive experience in a hospital laboratory setting is required.
3. Leadership Experience: Prior experience as a laboratory director or in a senior laboratory management role.

Nice-to-Haves:

1. Comprehensive Knowledge: Background in all aspects of laboratory science, including Chemistry, Blood Bank, Pathology, etc.
2. Regulatory Experience: Experience with The Joint Commission (TJC) audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
