Position Summary: The Director of Managed Medi-Cal is responsible for driving collection of patient services revenue. This position requires a thorough understanding of the revenue and account receivable reports, metrics and business process and has the ability to impact the processes to ensure collection of receivables. The Director of Managed Medi-Cal is required to provide direction, education and motivate staff involved in account receivable collection processes. The Director of Managed Medi-Cal will coordinate directly with the ARD’s and RFC’s as well as direct billing staff and collaborate with the center-based staff to achieve cash collection goals.
Essential Position Duties
- Review and analyze account receivable, aging and cash flow reports. Establishes a system to ensure routine billing deadlines and cash collection goals are met.
- Participates in routine account receivable management calls and/or aging reviews.
- Ensure key systems are in place that are critical to cash collections within the CBO.
- Analyzes credits monthly to ensure balances are resolved timely.
- Reviews submitted request to write-off delinquent accounts. Reviews collection efforts and returns write-off if opportunities to collect have not been pursued.
- Provides support in responding to health Plan requests for unpaid rates, credit recoupment, etc.
- Provides assistance to management on special projects to the extent resources/priorities permit.
- Coordinates and oversees the interviewing, hiring, reviewing and terminating of CBO Managers and Billers.
- Ensures that new CBO Managers and Billers receive adequate and ongoing training in all pertinent areas with particular emphasis on billing, collection and accounts receivable management procedures.
- Fosters and maintains a strong positive working relationship with fellow employees, including accounting, operations, marketing, human resources, etc., as well as employees in other subsidiary companies.
- Travels as needed throughout the U.S including time spent at the Corporate Office.
12. Ensures that all OSHA and safety standards are followed, as applicable to the position
and in the business location or workplace in accordance with state and federal regulations and policies and procedures.
13. Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to location/company safety standards for the healthcare professional.
14. Adheres to location and company policy and procedures.
15. Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards of patient/resident and client location information.
- Provides leadership and support for the Compliance Process within management area, including but not limited to timely reporting concerns or suspected incidences of non-compliance.
17. Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.

- Ability to apply critical thinking to a variety of situations, assess business objectives, develop, implement and monitor effective business plans for improvement.
- Ability to read, interpret and analyze financial records and reports
- Possess knowledge of reimbursement regulations as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to healthcare.
- Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel and develop/maintain good personnel relations and employee morale
- Ability to work independently, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive feedback.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Sufficient verbal and written communication skills to perform the tasks required.
- Strong knowledge base and skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Professional Experience/Educational Requirements
1. Five years accounting and/or auditing experience.
2. Five years long-term healthcare experience
3. Five years’ experience in management, supervision and training.
4. Three years of multi-facility experience with 5 or more entities.
