About the Job
Responsible for the supervision of the marketing department including the development, management, and implementation of the marketing and communications strategy for the council which includes advertising and public relations.
The Director of MarCom takes a leadership role in creating, implementing and managing strategies for public relations, communications, media, and marketing campaigns to promote Girl Scouting to internal and external audiences, using all forms of media available to increase girl and adult membership and gain financial and community support. Oversees the development and implementation of a variety of marketing initiatives to generate leads for both girls and adult volunteers and sells the Girl Scout program. This role is a blend of marketing and communications, focusing on creating a council-wide marketing plan that has cohesive and consistent messaging that reaches target audiences.
The Director of Marcom is a strong people leader, leading a team as well as volunteers driving the proactive, national reputation agenda for GSSGC and handling media issues at all levels. Primary responsibilities of this role include creating a council-wide marketing plan, managing GSSGC reputation, brand PR, social media communications, and issue and crisis management as well as accountability for identifying external risks and opportunities (monitoring and predicting political, legal, economic, and social developments) and putting in place strategies to manage them. The position partners closely with cross-functional teams, executive leaders, and the Field.
Education and Experience Requirements: A successful candidate would have a minimum of four years of progressively responsible and related experience including graphic arts, marketing, website architecture, and electronic communications (i.e. e-newsletters and other e-correspondence). The most sought-after candidates would have a Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field or equivalent experience and at least two years of managerial experience. Experience building and supporting high-functioning teams is essential and hopefully, the candidate has experience with basic budget administration.

A requirement of you employment with the Girls Scouts of San Gorgonio is that all staff members must successfully complete and pass a Live Scan finger print background check.
This requirement is in compliance with California Legislation AB506 whereas any administrator, employee, or regular volunteer, of a youth service organization must go through a finger print background check (Live Scan).
