We are seeking a creative, compassionate, hands-on Recreation Activities Assistant to assist in presenting and coordinating recreational programs for our assisted living residents, as well as residents with Alzheimer's disease or dementia in our dedicated Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood. You will assist residents in making the adjustment to a new concept of living at our luxury assisted living community, not only encouraging them to continue pursuing their interests, hobbies and lifestyle activities, but also to develop new and stimulating interests, as well. You will help plan fun and safe trips to suitable destinations, such as art galleries, theaters, music venues, racetracks, sports events as well as religious and cultural programs. You will also help prepare, print and distribute copies of our monthly calendar, newsletters and memos to residents. You will also be expected to perform planned activities in the absence of the Director of Recreation. In this role you will maintain a knowledge of resident backgrounds, hobbies, special interests, and spoken languages, etc., and use this knowledge to encourage resident engagement and participation. The loving attention you bring to the assistance you provide is fundamental to the quality of life and the general wellbeing of our residents every day.
Full Time, Part Time, and Per Diem schedules available
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/qualifications:
- One year's prior experience working with a senior population, and those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia a plus
- At least 6 months of Recreation activity experience (art therapy, music therapy) or event leadership experience, and preferably in assisted living, long-term care or a similar industry setting
- Be outgoing, warm and have a genuine caring personality
- Able to create programs that get residents involved and excited
- Be dependable and able to supervise activities, special events and safe excursions for the residents
- Has creative talents in one or more areas, such as art, music, readings, dance, etc.
- Always maintaining oneself well-groomed and properly attired
- Demonstrates good listening and communication skills and always presents a positive spirit and professional attitude
- Possesses a proven ability to lead classes and other instructional learning sessions and speak in front of a group setting with ease, confidence and clarity
- Holds a high school diploma or equivalent at a minimum

Every year, more and more seniors experience memory loss. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Resident Care Assistants/Home Health Aides who have a heart for senior care and can improve the quality of life of residents with Alzheimer's disease and dementia in our dedicated Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood. Your role is essential to the care and safety of residents who choose to call The Bristal home. The attention and understanding spirit that you bring helps to create a supportive environment for these residents, who, above all, need kindness, reassurance and genuine caring each day.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting residents manage Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Escorting residents to meals and recreational activities
- Helping out as needed in the Resident Services area to ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of our residents
- Following all policies and procedures, and adhering to the instructions of the Nurse Shift Supervisor and the Director of Wellness
Qualifications:
- NJ-Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide
- Experience assisting those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia is a plus
- Must be able to speak and read in English
- Previous experience with geriatric population preferred, providing assistance with ADLs
- Ability to follow instructions and establish personal care routines
- Basic understanding of dementia; patience and professionalism in redirecting residents
- Ability to adjust to different personality types and situations in positive ways
- Must always be reliable, caring and gentle in touch and demeanor
- Maintain an abiding respect for the elderly and remain calm at all times

We are seeking a caring, dedicated and experienced LPN nurse supervisor to become the Director of Reflections, our dedicated Alzheimer's and dementia Memory Care Neighborhood at our beautiful and luxurious community. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and success of the Reflections Program, including planning, organizing and coordinating special needs programs. You will also provide team member supervision and training, and act as a liaison and advocate for our residents and their families. This is a hands-on position requiring occasional participation in assisting residents with ADLs.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that resident care and management needs are sufficiently and appropriately assessed
- Serving as the liaison between residents, the resident's legal representatives, their families, administrative staff and community-based service providers
- Motivating and developing team members, including providing in-service education of the special needs program to Reflections area team members on health/wellness related topics
- Leading the daily operations of the Reflections Memory Care area and ensuring compliance with company and Department of Health (DOH) regulatory policies and standards regarding resident admission and discharge procedure as well as compiling appropriate medical case notes and other required documentation
- Scheduling and overseeing team members and assisting with medication management
Full-time schedule requires working one weekend day per week (Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs).
Qualifications:
- At least three (3) years working intimately with Alzheimer's or dementia patients and a minimum 5 years' experience working with the geriatric population
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and an active Licensed Practical Nurse-LPN
- A minimum of two (2 ) years of supervisory experience in an assisted living, skilled nursing, clinical or similar healthcare related field is preferred
- Experience planning and administering in-service education programs
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills as a mentor who can lead by example
- Possess a working knowledge of medical and nursing terminology
- Knowledge of geriatric care needs, supervision and administration
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to speak clearly, concisely and confidently with residents and their families, physicians, property personnel and other key stakeholders
- Exceptional multitasking, organizational and time management skills a must
- Ability and flexibility to excel despite frequent work interruptions
- Reset priorities in order to complete work responsibilities in a timely manner
- Apply discretion in handling confidential information
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress related to working with special needs population
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
