About the Job
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Currently registered in New Jersey, by state examination and experienced in supervision and teaching.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in long term care. Behavioral Health experience preferred.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs nursing services based on the facility policies and procedures as regulated by the State and Federal law.
PART 1: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS
PERFORMANCE
1. Responsible for direction, provision and quality of Nursing care.
a. Provides guidance and training to ADON and DON’s in training.
b. Provides weekly supervision to ADON’s to discuss and review key issues.
c. Provides support to Nursing Leadership through weekly meetings.
2. Responsible for ensuring one registered professional nurse is on duty at all times and reviews monthly Nursing schedules.
3. Reviews nursing 24 hour reports and brings issues for resolution to the daily morning meeting.
4. Makes every effort to adhere to Nursing Department budget as developed by administration; supervises ordering of medical supplies.
5. Responsible for coordinating and integrating nursing services with other patient care services to provide a continuum of care for the patients.
6. Participates in representing the Nursing Service in the facility’s staff committees including Patient Care Policy, Pharmacy, Infection Control, Utilization Review and CQI and Safety.
7. Responsible in the development and periodic update of written job description for each level of Nursing Personnel. Reviews and signs competency evaluation of personnel.
8. Ensures completion, documentation of Incident/Accident Reports in a timely manner.
9. Ensures that disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap or marital status.
10. Assists the administrator in the enforcement of Resident Care Policies.
11. Works as a team member with all other departments/auxiliary services
12. Prepares Department of Nursing for State Survey through monitoring of CQI data and systems in place.
13. Provide direct Supervision to companywide MDS 3.0 Coordinators in all buildings to ensure accuracy and timeliness of assessments.
14. Provides In-Service training to Nursing in accuracy, scoring and assessment as it relates to MDS 3.0.
15. Monitors compliance with Monthly Pharmacy Consultant Reports, Monthly Psychoactive Summary Reports and Monthly Pain Management Summary Reports
16. Develops plans of corrections and training to all MDS Coordinator based on outcome of QA audits.

EMPLOYEE IS REQUIRED TO:
1. Demonstrate ability to handle stressful situations.
2. Must be able to write & speak the English language in an understandable manner.
3. Ability to relate and work with the physically and emotionally challenged resident.
4. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity & ability to work effectively with resident, family members, personnel & support agencies.
5. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
6. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
