Job Description
Qualifications: Currently licensed in the state as a Registered Nurse, a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience within the last five years required. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid California RN license
Valid CPR certification
Experience Required: Three years experience in Skilled Nursing setting as Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, MDS Coordinator, Infection Preventionist, or Director of Staff Development preferred.
Essential Functions:
Supports the philosophy, mission, commitment, vision and values of the facility
Performs general management functions such as hiring, training, disciplining and evaluating employees.
Plans and facilitates meetings and committees to address resident care issues.
Manages the Nursing Department with the goal of achieving accuracy and maintaining the highest quality of care possible.
Develops and manages systems to assure clinical competencies.
Participates in developing, implementing and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development and continuing education of nursing staff members.
Investigates and resolves residents/family/employee concerns.
Ensures that annual Skills Checks and performance reviews are completed in the appropriate time frame for nursing staff.
Pro-actively addresses survey and/or standards of care issues.
Ensures that adequate nursing staff are available based on facility/census/ regulatory requirements.
Assures that all clinical protocols and nursing policies and procedures are followed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must possess strong clinical skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents and family members.
Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
Must possess strong business development skills and have the ability to execute operational strategies.
Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, state and federal regulations and facility policies and procedures regarding nursing standards and delivery of care.
