Skaalen Retirement Services is a nonprofit senior care community with over 125 years of service to the Stoughton Community. We are looking for a qualified and dedicated Director of Nursing to join our team. In this role, we need someone who can organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the nursing services in our Skilled Nursing facility and offer additional support to other areas on our campus. The ideal candidate will be mission driven and quality focused.

Requirements
- Registered Nursing license (RN) from accredited nursing program, college or university.
- Working knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding Skilled Nursing facility operations.
- Associate degree in nursing or related field. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years leadership experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Current and valid CPR certification.
- Effectively works independently with little supervision in a fast paced, multi-faceted work environment.
- Must be an effective communicator (written and verbally) with strong analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Must be willing to be on call for any urgent scheduling or nursing needs
General Overview of Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage day to day function of nursing practices while adhering to established regulations and guidelines that govern skilled nursing facilities
- Determine the nature and extent of nursing care needed by all residents on a 24-hour basis to ensure needs are being met
- Select and maintain high quality nursing personnel
- Develop philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures that enhance high quality standards of geriatric and general nursing practices
- Lead staff in implementing person-centered care by facilitating audits, record keeping, and proactive problem solving to ensure care provided has positive effects on residents
- Understand the importance of resident rights in healthcare as well as the community as a whole, and advocate for operations, processes, and decisions that are in residents’ best interests
- Understand principles and methods for quality improvement and actively use them to continuously improve and sustain excellence in care and service
- Prepare an annual budget and determine necessary equipment and supplies
- Actively engage and work with the interdisciplinary team or outside associations by participating in meetings and on committees as necessary
- Be well versed with technology use and familiarity with electronic medical records
