POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director of Nursing MSN-FNP assists in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the MSN-FNP program. The position also offers opportunity to teach. The Director works closely with the Assistant Dean/Director of Nursing and is responsible for providing leadership and fostering both internal and external collaborative relationships with faculty, administration, and stakeholders in the community. The Director is available to assume leadership for the Nursing Department in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Provides leadership in the ongoing development of the Nursing MSN-FNP within the Concordia University of Irvine Department of Nursing.
- Develops and writes graduate curricula as appropriate for new program development.
- Coordinates and facilitates online/hybrid/on-ground graduate nursing curriculum, class scheduling, and teaching formats.
- Coordinates orientation for new graduate students.
- Participates on Graduate Student Thesis, Evidence-Based Practice Policy Research, and Dissertation Committee as a chair and/or committee member.
- Participates and collaborates in scheduled marketing, recruitment, and information session meetings.
- Develops and implements an effective system of academic, advisement, and matriculation for graduate students.
- Serves as a member of committees as appointed by the Assistant Dean/Director of Nursing.
- Performs instructional duties as assigned.
- Coordinates academic matters with the faculty workload assignment and orientation of subject matter experts for the graduate program.
- Directs and collaborates with faculty and director to determine release time to fulfill specific faculty projects or on-going research and other professional development.
- Participates in the selection, assignment, development, monitoring, and evaluation of faculty and assists in recruitment of adjunct faculty.
- Assures the effective development and operation of graduate simulation content in clinical MSN curriculum.
- Handles graduate students' academic requests for leave of absence, petitions and grievances in accordance with Concordia University Irvine established policies and procedure.
- Develops, implements, and ensures that the curriculum evaluation component of the MSN are collected and analyzed.
- Participates in the planning, implementing, and evaluation of curriculum content and program outcomes for accrediting bodies Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Assists in the preparation and ongoing maintenance of accreditation for, BRN, CCNE, WASC.
- Collaborates with Assistant Dean/Director of Nursing in developing, revising, and implementing department policies.
- Assists Assistant Dean/Director of Nursing in preparing and monitoring annual program budget.
- Attends conferences, workshops, seminars and /or industry meetings pertinent to program needs.
- Other assignments as delegated by the Assistant Dean/Director of Nursing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner (MSN-NP). Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or related field preferred.
- Registered nurse in the state of California.
- Family Nurse Practitioner license in the state of California with recent practice experience.
- Teaching experience in nursing at the baccalaureate and master levels.
- Experience in curriculum and program development.
- Administrative experience in an academic setting.
- Ability and skills to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, students and others.
