Position overview: The Director of School Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of our educational community for one of TEP’s three school campuses. This dynamic leadership position demands a deep passion for operational excellence, community development, and a commitment to fostering a positive environment for both staff and students. The Director of School Operations role is for an equity-driven individual who strongly believes in TEP’s revolutionary approach to providing an excellent educational experience to underserved communities.
Requirements
Operations Management
- Operational Capacity Building: Lead the evolution of the school's current and long-term operational strategy through oversight of all non-instructional operations.
- Daily Operations Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the school.
- Leadership Collaboration: Coordinate with school leaders around strategic thinking to implement and innovate school operational goals that enhance the quality educational services for students and families.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with school leaders to build and maintain strong relationships within the school community, fostering an inclusive environment aligned with TEP's commitment to equity.
- Assessment Coordination: Manage the coordination of logistics related to New York State Assessments, ensuring seamless execution of state testing procedures.
- Data Systems Management: Oversee the administration of data systems, including TEP’s Student Information System and ATS, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data management processes.
- Student Recruitment and Enrollment: Drive student recruitment and enrollment initiatives, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to maintain optimal student population.
- Student Transportation Oversight: Manage student transportation logistics, encompassing yellow bus services and Metro Cards, while maintaining a positive relationship with DOE’s Office of Pupil Transportation.
- Technology Support Vendor Liaison: Serve as TEP’s primary liaison with all technology vendors, ensuring effective communication and coordination for technology support services.
- School Food Program: Collaborate with TEP's Food Services Team to ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and timely distribution of meals for all students.
- Student Health: Serve as TEP’s primary contact for our school nurse and the Office of School Health, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Event Planning and Management: Plan and manage school events, including the direct logistics of school ceremonies, special events, and field trips.
Operational Excellence and Collaboration:
- Operational Excellence: Influence a culture of operational excellence and collaboration across the organization, fostering a solutions-oriented approach.
- Leadership Skills: Provide guidance and training for the school operations team by providing constructive feedback, ensuring a well-equipped and capable team to handle operational responsibilities.
- Customer Service Culture: Cultivate a culture of customer service and solutions-oriented support for students, families, staff, and visitors, ensuring a positive and supportive experience for all stakeholders.
About You (Qualifications)
- Leadership Experience in Operations: Bring a minimum of 5+ years of impactful management experience in operational roles.
- Project Management Expertise: Strong project management and supervisory experience required; displays the ability to manage strategic operations and influence direct and indirect reports
- Operational Excellence: Energized by the prospect of managing school operations projects and initiatives, while adhering to sensitive timelines and modeling excellent organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Passion for Equity and Inclusion: Exhibit a genuine passion for building diverse, equitable, and inclusive School Operations teams, aligning with TEP's commitment to fostering educational equity across all departments.
- Strategic Vision and Operational Agility: Showcase enthusiasm for big-picture school operations strategy and innovation while demonstrating the ability to adeptly navigate day-to-day operational needs.
- Commitment to TEP's Vision: Deeply committed to TEP's organizational vision and revolutionary approach to attracting educational talent to underserved communities, aligning personal values with TEP's mission.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Exhibit exceptional writing ability and verbal communication skills; bilingual Spanish fluency, preferred.
Note that as this role requires a strong on-site presence, TEP's Director of School Operations is a fully in-person position at one of TEP's campuses in Washington Heights/Inwood.
