Mission or Goal of Unit: The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is seeking a full-time, BC/BE pediatric hepatologist to serve as the Director of Pediatric Hepatology. Applicants should have experience in both pediatric hepatology and transplantation. The successful candidate will be faculty in the VCU School of Medicine with affiliation in the Department of Surgery and assist in the development of a multidisciplinary pediatric transplantation core team at CHoR. Chief Purpose of this position: The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is seeking a full-time, BC/BE pediatric hepatologist to serve as the Director of Pediatric Hepatology. The faculty shares a common commitment to providing exceptional clinical care to children as well as providing a quality education to trainees and research in the area of hepatology. There are opportunities for teaching and supervision of medical and graduate students and pediatric residents. Research and other scholarly activity are expected, and opportunities exist for collaborative research with established researchers. In particular, the Division of Adult Hepatology has a longstanding and extensive clinical and basic science research program. Numerous campus resources are available to support basic, clinical and translational research, including a NIH-funded CTSA and the VCU Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR). Children’s Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the Pediatric GI Division and Hepatology Program into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Hepatology. Faculty member will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents and Chief Residents in the area of GI.
2. Research
Faculty member will have experience in securing revenue through grants and contracts and will serve as a research mentor to other members of the division and the Department of Pediatrics.
3. Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional through journal review, conference presentations.
4. Clinical
Faculty member will provide oversight for clinical activities of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Transplant as Director of Pediatric Hepatology in support of the clinical mission of CHoR of VCU Health System.
5. Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.)
Faculty member will take on administrative duties associated with the role of Director of Pediatric Hepatology program.
