DIRECTOR OF PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES
SUMMARY
Coordinates and evaluates the quality of nursing/patient care, financial stability, and service productivity. The Nursing Director is responsible for the professional development and morale of the service teams and has a close working relationship with the general management team and the medical staff to effectively meet system goals, organizational goals, and all pillars relating to the departments he/she oversees.
- Selects, develops, and retains the right team members, ensuring they are appropriately trained, educated, and equipped to perform their job.
- Ensures departmental schedules are created to meet patient/customer/staff needs and manages staffing in a fiscally responsible manner that minimizes the use of overtime and agency. Oversees timely and accurate submission of payroll for the unit.
- Ensures staff and departmental compliance with all policies, procedures, TJC, and other regulatory standards at all times. Keeps staff and department in a constant state of TJC readiness.
- Holds regular staff meetings. Provides feedback to staff through daily conversations, evaluations, on-the-spot recognition, coaching, and counseling staff regularly.
- Manages productivity and other budgetary line items successfully. Prepares all necessary financial reports on time, analyzes results, and develops and then implements action plans as applicable.
- Ensures excellent patient/customer service as measured by departmental service scores. Conducts regular rounding on patients/customers and staff. Utilizes service recovery as necessary.
- Establishes open communication with key stakeholders (i.e., physicians and other customers). Meets with customers on a regular basis and engages customers for input in decisions whenever possible.
- Engages staff and creates a positive team environment on the unit. Is fair and consistent in policy application and corrective action.
- Serves as a role model for professionalism and consistently demonstrates a Code of Ethics.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows Privacy Code and HIPAA.
- Possesses the knowledge and competency to interact and act with the population served. This includes the ability to do any/all of the following: the ability to assess, communicate with, treat, interpret, and/or care for those it interacts with, which generally include ages from young adult (ages 18–25 years) through geriatric (70-plus years).
- Regularly attends continuing education sessions to keep abreast of new developments and trends in the field of expertise. Attends required leadership development programs at the hospital. Participates in professional associations related to their area of expertise.

RN Multi-State License
ACLS preferred
BLS preferred
CNOR Preferred
Experience in Surgical Services/Perioperative Services required
Progressive Leadership/Management experience is required
