Currently, we are partnered with a preferred client in Elko, Nevada in search of a highly talented Director of Pharmacy.
Job Summary:
Our client, a 75-bed facility recognized by the American College of Cardiology as an accredited Chest Pain Center, is seeking a full-time Director of Pharmacy. The ideal candidate will lead a team of professionals in delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care and help create an excellent workplace for employees. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment that provides a wide range of services, including emergency medicine, heart care, maternity care, sleep medicine, and surgical services.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements of the organization
- Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management
- Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives
- Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets
- Coordinate and direct internal/external audits
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
- Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols
- Act as the "Managing Pharmacist" responsible for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations (after obtaining NV licensure)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required; Doctorate in Pharmacy preferred
- At least three years of previous pharmacy leadership experience in a hospital or acute care setting
- Current Nevada Pharmacist License (or ability to obtain within three months of hire)
- Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) with the State of NV (following NV License within three months of hire)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (within six months of hire)
- Certificates of Completion for both FEMA IS-100.C and FEMA IS-200.C required within three months of hire
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to assess complex situations and determine effective resolutions
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with department directors, physicians, staff, visitors, and vendors
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
