Working across the staff, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and planning external communications for the organization. The Communications Coordinator will bring consistency and branding by creating and editing a wide range of content, including newsletters, marketing materials, website design and updates, media relations, social media communications, and other methods to engage our membership.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications Responsibilities:Supports the promotion of various CSG South publications and electronic products.Ensures CSG South website, publications, and products are consistent with grammar, style, and quality standards as determined by the Director of Marketing and Programs.Audits and maintains the CSG South website; writes, edits, and posts content; coordinates staff updates to assigned pages; facilitates web design changes as needed and tracks analytics.Plans and implements the Southern Pulse monthly e-newsletter for CSG South.Serves as staff social media coordinator for multiple platforms (X, LinkedIn, etc.) and is responsible for creating and executing content on all CSG South channels and tracking analytics.Supports the Director of Marketing and Programs with regional marketing efforts, including an outreach strategy incorporating e-blasts, e-newsletters, social media, media releases, event promotions, publications, and online messaging and content.Coordinates CSG South's media relations, including outreach to media outlets in connection with various Southern Office events; drafts/edits media releases and advisories; assists in administering regional media-related policies.Communicates effectively with state legislators, legislative staff, other government entities, not-for-profit organizations, program presenters, and external partners for media relations and contact updates.Contributes to national CSG publications and other CSG-wide activities as requested and appropriate.Coordinates the execution of multimedia projects, including video and webinar-based products; develops and maintains a digital library of photos and audio and video media.Assisting with maintaining and updating current e-blast, e-newsletter, and physical mailing contact lists.Supports the Graphic Designer with additional asset creation as needed.Assists the Programs & Marketing team with State Visit Meetings as needed.Annual Meeting Responsibilities:Serves as lead for Annual Meeting App and assists with executing the needs of on-site registration. This includes updating with current year graphics and content and all messaging/notifications during the meeting.Compiles and prepares Annual Meeting Media packets, as needed.Plans and implements social media content, contests, schedule, etc. for the Annual Meeting.Assists with the booking and scheduling of the Annual Meeting photographer(s).Responsible for content creation and sending weekly SLC email blasts.Database Management:Serves as the lead on Quorum database maintenance and upkeep.Serves as the CSG South Liaison at regional Quorum meetings.Conducts quarterly database clean-ups, which consist of de-duplication of profiles, custom field management, and ensuring all profiles are up to date.Communicates with CSG Staff over new Quorum updates and best practices and leads bi-weekly check-up meetings.SKILLS & ABILITIESDemonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word (including mail merges), Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, Social Media platforms, and Internet search skills requiredManages multiple tasks and coordinates projects simultaneously in an efficient mannerCommunicates clearly and effectively (written and verbal) and possesses exceptional customer service skillsDemonstrates a high degree of organization and attention to detailDemonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and professionalismWorks independently on projects and is an approachable, collaborative member of a teamPrioritizes and coordinates work assignments quickly and confidently to meet deadlinesExercises initiative and sound judgment, follows directions, understands and applies procedures and instructionsDependable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with senior staff, state elected officials and vendorsAbility to interact effectively with diverse people in different contexts and foster equity and inclusion through self-awareness, cultural sensitivity, and valuing others.Dedication to public service with an unfailing commitment to act civically, be nonpartisan in performing CSG duties, and be a responsible steward of member and donor funds.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in public relations, public administration, communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.One year of work experience in communications, public administration, public relations, or related areas.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSInterested candidates must complete the online application and include their cover letter and resume.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to characteristics including but not limited to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
