Job Description
Your Role As a HealthStreamer
Position Summary
This is a management and software architecture position. Directors of Product Architecture help determine department policy and resource allocations. In addition to management responsibilities, a Director of Product Architecture serves as the technical lead of a multi-team software development lane to provide architectural oversight for software development teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders to compose technical strategies for completing large software development initiates as well as refine and inform the requirements for software application products, features, and enhancements
- Provide complexity estimates for proposed software applications, features, and enhancements
- Determine software application architecture
- Inform software application physical and data architecture
- Provide technical oversight and make architectural decisions for multiple software development teams
- Plan and coordinate integrations with third-party software systems
- Maintain software code quality relying on a standardized set of metrics for software code quality
- Monitor and support as necessary the deployment of software applications to production
- Coordinate the rapid response and resolution for high-priority software application defects and operational issues
- Provide consultations for other software developers working in his/her areas of subject matter expertise
- Investigate new tools and technologies and advocate for their use in HealthStream software development
- Coordinate technical projects with other technical disciplines within HealthStream IT
- Advise Quality Assurance regarding how to test software application features, enhancements, and defect fixes
- Ensure that his team adheres to all HealthStream standards, processes, and best practices for software development
- Evaluate the performance of junior managers and software developers
- Oversee the recruiting and hiring of candidate software developers
- Enforce adherence to company and departmental policy
- Support and retain software development staff
- Mentor and coach junior managers and software developers
- Help define and update department policies
- Allocate software development personnel among projects
Qualifications
What You Will Need to be Successful
Education, Experience and Knowledge Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred. We will also consider commensurate experience or advanced industry technical certification
- 8+ years' experience in Software Development
- 4+ years' experience as a lead developer or equivalent function providing technical oversight for a development team
- Demonstrated success in the management of direct reports and small teams in an agile environment
