Director of Quality Assurance - Judge Group

We are actively recruiting an experienced manufacturing professional for a Director of Quality position in the Youngstown area. The Director of Quality will directly manage the quality teams with responsibility for the QMS and redevelop, implement, and periodically evaluate the quality program to ensure the organization's production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards required by the organization and its customers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop all Quality Department personnel at a large manufacturing site.
• Create, maintain, and communicate quality standards, policies, procedures, quality system, and quality manual; as well as strategic plans and budgets relating to the area of quality.
• Implement and uphold defined quality process and systems within the plant.
• Draw conclusions and make crucial decisions regarding the release or destruction of held production pieces.
• Possess the breadth of experience and authority to halt production processes due to non-conformance of product and/or unsafe working conditions.
• Ensure all compliance, certification, and approval concerning agency regulations and industry standards (such as ISO/QS/TS, HACCP).
• Audit and work with suppliers to ensure their quality systems are proficient.
• Conduct follow-up inspections when quality or safety report issues arise.
• Collect, investigate, and resolve quality complaints with key customers.
• Provide the site with regular training in GMPs, HACCP, GFSI and train new quality team members as needed.
• Provide effective and quick quality problem resolutions.
• Inform direct reports constantly of any changes that impact their daily duties and work procedures.
• Provide effective, regular, timely communication with plant management regarding product quality.
• Suggest improvements or enhancements for relevant processes.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree required, Master's degree preferred.
• 10 years' manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years’ experience and quantifiable success as a Quality Assurance Manager or Director.
• Experience implementing and managing QMS.
• GMP/HACCP experience required.
• Experience interfacing and problem solving with customers to maintain positive business relationships.
• Strong Lean/Continuous Improvement experience to include coaching, setting standard work instructions and leader standard work for departments.
• Professional quality certification preferred (CMQ/OE, CQA, CQE, CRE, CRE, CSSBB, etc.)
• Experience in a tooling-intensive manufacturing processes preferred (Casting, Stamping, Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Thermoforming, Extrusion, etc.).
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to travel as needed to other manufacturing sites.
