Cabarrus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Concord, NC is seeking qualified individuals to join our growing team as Director of Recreation.
The Director of Recreation is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, directing, and carrying out with their staff and/or volunteers, an on-going schedule of meaningful recreational activities designed to meet the physical, mental, cultural, spiritual, emotional, and psychosocial interests of each resident in accordance with company policies and procedure as well as local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.

What you'll do:
- Trains and develops subordinates to prepare them for promotion and increased responsibility.
- Meets with activities staff on a regular basis to develop, conduct, and evaluate activities.
- Establish an active volunteer program which includes recruiting, screening, orienting, training, and supervising volunteers.
- Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area, including activity rooms and common areas.
- Manages time, projects, and records effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
- Direct all activity functions and services in the department. Provide a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the residents.
- Complete a comprehensive resident activity assessment according to resident background, past and present leisure interests, abilities, physical and mental limitations, and activity related needs and develop resident activity goals for the written care plan on admission; review and update quarterly.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review process of the resident’s care plan and completes information in the activity section of the MDS assessment
- Maintain accurate records which indicate a resident’s attendance, participation in, and response to activities in the program.
- Schedule and coordinate therapeutic activities to meet the variety of interests, including physical, spiritual, cognitive, and psychosocial needs of the residents.
- Informs residents, support staff, families, and the interdisciplinary team of the current schedule of planned activities.
- Completes and submits monthly electronic calendar and monthly posted calendar per company policy on or before the due date.
- Develop methods to implement the activity program within an allocated budget.
- Directs the program of activities as printed and posted.
- Facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings according to residents’ wishes and company policies.
What you Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree and qualification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional; or, Associate Degree and qualified as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional via (1) two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program, (2) certification by the National Council of Activity Professionals or other recognized accrediting body, (3) completion of a state-approved activities training course, or (4) current licensure as an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapist Assistant.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in-writing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to accept and exhibit the responsibility to make sound management decisions.
- Basic computer skills.
