Job Description:To provide vision, leadership and oversight of The Omni Homestead’s world-class recreational amenities and ensure memorable experiences are delivered for all guests. To lead the effort of programming and marketing of the amenities to both resort and day guests and inspiring the recreation team to deliver exceptional service as part of the key role of differentiating our property from our competition. To be a subject matter expect whose is on top of industry trends.
Responsibilities:No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the resort. The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.
- Oversee and provide growth to the following recreation areas: Allegheny Springs Pool Complex, Shooting Club, Fly Fishing, Equestrian, Skiing, Ice Skating, Tubing, Tennis, Nature Hikes, Outdoor Activities & Base Camp (Zip Line, Archery, Axe Throwing, Mountain Bikes), Miniature Golf and Kids Club.
- Develop, market and sell Social and Group Recreation opportunities.
- Communicate hours of operation, rates and all relevant information to key parties including, but not limited to, resort associates, activities reservations team, The Homestead Club members, Owners Club members, the local hospitality community, etc.
- Promote recreation programs and set pricing for the resort guide, marketing, and other relevant avenues to include daily social hour.
- Manage relationships with third party partners such as falconry and kayaking.
- Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotels culture, rules, and regulations.
- Fully understand and implement "Moments of Service."
- Accountable for increasing revenue, controlling expenses, and managing labor to fit the Omni trilogy.
- Hire, train and coach Recreation Managers directly and all associates indirectly.
- Act as a coach and be a positive role model for associates and colleagues.
- Monitor and provide timely feedback, counseling, and performance evaluations to associates.
- Coordinate/approve the ordering and purchasing of supplies of all the recreation departments.
- Isolate and analyze areas in need of improvement and take immediate action.
- Establish administrative rules and regulations, policies, and procedures for the division.
- Maintain standards of guest services and consistent positive guest experience as documented by J.D. Power and AAA Ratings.
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings and ensure ATGT monthly meetings are held.
- Inspect recreational areas and pool facilities regularly for cleanliness and safety to meet Omni and State standards.
- Effectively use the Omni Service Champions program to recognize and reward outstanding customer service.
- Attend Executive Committee, Operations, Leadership Council meetings weekly; attend monthly walk through of recreation facilities.
- Hold weekly division meetings, weekly one-on-one with each recreation manager, monthly Omni Service Traditions meeting and monthly supervisor meetings.
- Evaluate associates during their yearly Key Result Area review.
- Foster positive relations with internal and external vendors.
- Assist in all other aspects of the resort departments as needed.
- Be well read on recreation industry trends and knowledgeable of our key competitor’s offerings and operations.
Resort Specific Essential Functions:
- Engage guests of all ages in different ways to explore The Homestead and surrounding areas with a variety of options: coordinate group programming, pool operations/facilities, kids’ programming, family activities, nature programs and tours, holiday/themed events, special events, retail, etc.
- Complete financial reports for the recreation department to ensure correct profit margins.
- Champion the creation of program growth by determining new trends and reacting accordingly.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for media interviews/inquiries and provide relevant, timely information for external media pitches.
- Prepare all events and tours in a timely manner for effective communication.
- Develop new programs/ideas, events, tours, retail, family activities while generating revenue for all aspects of the recreation department.
- Follow all state mandates, laws, policies, surveys, and tests as required.
- Retain proper permits to include but not limited to pool, shooting, equestrian and skiing areas.
- Maintain property guide/lifeguard permits.
- Work directly with Omni legal team to create waivers and assess liability of activities.
Tools and Equipment:
- Must be strong technologically and be proficient with Microsoft products, especially Teams, Excel and PowerPoint. Must learn to proficiency levels: Resort Suite POS, OneStream, BirchStreet, Medallia, Kronos, OnTrack and any other systems used within the recreation division.

Working Environment:
- Interior and exterior with exposure to weather conditions
- Exposed to hot and cold temperatures.
- Exposed to minimal amounts of various hazardous chemicals.
Physical Job Requirements (for essential functions only)
- Valid driver’s license
- Able to lift up to 60-100 pounds occasionally and 30-50 pounds repeatedly.
- Able to stoop, stand, push, pull and walk or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to hear, smell, have good or corrected vision and a good sense of balance.
- Associates must be able to walk throughout property, communicate verbally to our guests and able to multitask effectively.
AdditionalQualifications:
- 2 or 4 Degree in Sports Management, Recreation or Hospitality preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience leading a complex sports/recreation operation required.
- Managerial experience overseeing at least several of Shooting, Equestrian, Skiing, group recreational activities or pool operations preferred.
