Job Title: Director of Rehabilitation (DOR)

Job Summary:
The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) at Vivo Healthcare is responsible for managing the daily operations of the rehabilitation department, including overseeing the delivery of therapy services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing leadership and guidance to the rehabilitation team. This role involves managing therapy services across physical, occupational, and speech therapy disciplines to achieve the highest quality patient care in skilled nursing and rehabilitation settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a team of licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists, therapy assistants, and rehab aides.
- Supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans for patients.
- Monitor and ensure that therapists adhere to patient care standards and documentation requirements.
- Mentor, coach, and support the rehabilitation team, fostering professional development.
- Maintain open communication with facility administration and interdisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of rehabilitation services with the overall goals of the facility.
Operational Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including documentation standards and therapy billing procedures.
- Monitor therapy schedules to optimize efficiency and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily reports and patient care records.
- Oversee patient evaluations and progress assessments to ensure effective rehabilitation plans.
- Work closely with the admissions team to ensure appropriate referrals and screenings for potential patients.
Financial and Performance Management:
- Drive the department’s financial performance by managing productivity, expenses, and maximizing reimbursement for therapy services.
- Ensure billing accuracy and compliance with payer requirements.
- Monitor therapy outcomes and contribute to facility-wide quality improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and analyze department reports, ensuring census and productivity targets are met.
Patient Care and Compliance:
- Oversee the delivery of patient-centered rehabilitation services, ensuring individualized care plans and goals are developed and monitored.
- Ensure services are delivered in compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer regulations.
- Work with nursing, medical staff, and other disciplines to support the overall patient care plan and coordinate care effectively.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Must hold current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in good standing.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a clinical rehabilitation setting, with 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Skilled nursing facility (SNF) or post-acute care experience is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a team and foster a positive work environment.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
- Ability to manage budgets and drive financial performance.
