Director, Safety & Risk Management
The Director of Safety and Risk Management is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of programs and activities that lead to the prevention of accidents and incidents that harm people, property, or the environment.
Reporting to the COO of a profitable, leading supply chain services and solutions company that provides integrated trucking, warehousing, and third-party logistics, that has been in business for over 25 years, this position is for a seasoned transportation professional looking for a challenge. This is for the logistics professional who wants to make a difference and is at the top of his game.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs compliance with federal and industry regulations and
- implements risk management initiatives with hands-on approach to accidents and auto liability situations.
- Maintains DOT register and DOT accident files.
- Will travel to terminal locations to meet with safety personnel on a quarterly basis
- Travel to safety related leadership seminars and conferences.
- DOT compliance of drivers, equipment, and facilities, including
- Training of personnel, electronic driver log compliance, accident management, DOT, OSHA, and EPA audit.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Class-8 transportation safety management experience (4+ years)
- Total Transportation Experience (10 years)Risk Management, Insurance, claims investigation & adjustments, and Subrogation
- CSA, FMCSA, DOT, HOS, ELD (Omnitracs), EPA & OSHA compliance
- On-board communication systems (i.e., AS/400)
- Driver coaching & training & positive corrective action
- Medical qualification, licensing & ongoing certification requirements
- Safety inspections of terminals, shops, and vehicles.
- Accident-avoidance technology & application for driver safety
- Presentation/ public speaking experience
- Computer literate: MS Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree ( Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation preferred but not required)
