About the Job
The Sales Director will be responsible for leading a high-performing sales team, developing sales strategies, managing key customer relationships, and driving revenue targets. This role will require a combination of strategic thinking, hands-on management, and excellent communication skills to effectively lead a diverse team of sales professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales leadership, business development, and the ability to navigate complex sales cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales managers and sales representatives to achieve individual and team revenue goals.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide coaching and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a high-performance culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Sales Strategy Development & Execution:
- Develop and implement sales strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and expand market share.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop a pipeline of leads through both inbound and outbound channels.
- Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to refine sales approaches and stay ahead of industry changes.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Collaborate with the marketing and product teams to tailor offerings to meet client needs and improve overall customer satisfaction.
- Lead high-level negotiations with strategic clients and partners.
- Sales Metrics & Reporting:
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics (KPIs), sales pipeline, and forecasts to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Provide regular sales reports and updates to executive leadership, offering insights into sales trends, challenges, and opportunities.
- Collaboration with Other Teams:
- Work closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to align on sales campaigns, product launches, and customer retention strategies.
- Provide feedback to the product team on customer insights, market needs, and competitive offerings.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Oversee the sales budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources to support sales efforts.
- Ensure the effective use of CRM and sales enablement tools to track performance and streamline workflows.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a team of sales professionals.
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets in a leadership capacity.
- Experience in Consumer Goods is preferred.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop sales talent.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to track, interpret, and act on sales data to improve performance.
- Expertise in CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) and other sales tools.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to withstand emotional and physical stress.
- Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- This position requires occasional travel, estimated at 25% of the time. Travel may include attending trade shows, client meetings, and team events.
