About the Job
Responsible for the direct sales and marketing for Choice branded hotels. Maintains key accounts while finding new accounts for the
hotel. Individuals will generate profitable business/ sales in the assigned market segments through face-to-face outside
calls, telemarketing, convention bureau, correspondence,
Knows account and pending accounts (i.e. volume, trends, rates at other hotels, etc.).
Prospects and acquires new business while maintaining existing accounts.
Maintains orderly sales files and trace system.
Completes action steps outlined in the marketing plan.
Solicits business through both outside and inside cells.
Attends selected trade shows and participates in social/civic activities as assigned.
Meets monthly sales goals in room nights, revenue, and sales calls.
Conducts site inspections with potential clients weekly.
Prepares weekly and monthly productivity reports for weekly sales meetings.
Helps prepare yearly budget, business and marketing plan as well as prepare special projects.
Performs in a professional manner all assigned administrative duties and projects assigned by the Director of Sales and/or Marketing.
Understands competition in detail to include number of rooms, square footage of meeting space, number of meeting rooms, quality of décor, rate structure, competing sales manager, flag support, any expansion/renovation, etc.
After the execution of tentative contracts, follow up an account to make every effort to convert the contract to a definite piece of business.
Interact in a professional and courteous manner with other departments.
Make every effort possible to re-book groups presently meeting in the hotel as well as solicit their feedback on their group's satisfaction.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Deal with internal/departmental and customer problems quickly, efficiently, and courteously. It is of the utmost importance to maintain client confidence and goodwill.
Serve on hotel committees representing the sales department as requested.
Review difficult / out-of-the-ordinary rates, arrival patterns, and room night questions with the Director of Sales and/ or Marketing.
Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Must understand and be flexible with work schedule and hours to meet hotel and guest needs. Must recognize occupancy and in-house group accounts will affect your work schedule.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
