Responsibilities:
What you'll be challenged to do:
The Director of Sales and Operations - Texas is responsible for the success of their respective Texas offices in achieving annual and company strategic operational goals. We are looking for an experienced leader in the AEC industry, who aspires to take on challenges and opportunities in our ever-growing firm. The three primary responsibilities for this leadership role include Team Leadership & Development; Finance & Operations; and Business Development.
Essential Duties & Primary Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Has the primary task of communicating and carrying out the mission and objectives of the firm and executing the company’s Strategic Plan within their respective area.
- Function as the “face” of TranSystems for the area.
- Communicate timely and effectively with their Regional Senior Vice President (RSVP), Regional Business Operations Manager (RBOM) and other Leaders within the Area/Region as well as other members of the Senior Management.
- Team Leadership/Development
- Implement the operating philosophies/policies of the company
- Ensure a focus on creating a work environment that retains top talent, provides development opportunities for employees, addresses performance concerns, supports positive morale, and strategically acquires new talent.
- Provide direction, oversight, support, and development for division leaders.
- Develop contingency and leadership transitions plans, identify successors, and provide mentorship.
- Collaborate with service and market sector leaders, as well as other managing directors, to strategically recruit individuals with regional or national responsibilities.
- Foster a culture of training and staff development.
- Lead and reinforce all elements of the All-In approach, with specific focus on actively identifying and executing opportunities to use/share/leverage resources across the Company.
- Reinforce the importance of maintaining a culture of Safety. Work actively to achieve zero lost time incidents annually.
- Financial and Operational Responsibilities:
- Develop annual budgets and mid-year projections.
- Ensure that the area delivers the budgeted operating parameters and resulting profits from the offices within their jurisdiction.
- Provide day-to-day supervision within their respective area by communicating performance expectations and offering ongoing feedback related to their ability to successfully achieve expectations. Schedule regular status meetings/trips to offices.
- Meet with RBOM, Business Manager, and PMs to review all active projects. Work with Project Managers to assess project performance. Review project % completes/forecasting on large and/or focus projects. Review Accounts Receivable and At-Risk projects.
- Collaborate with division leaders on managing expenses.
- Promote a culture of quality across the area.
- Continually monitor and manage the labor force of their area to ensure that it is appropriately sized for the volume of work, ensuring quality and timely execution of work.
- Manage office leases/space.
- Business Development: Meet Top Line Wins and Sales
- Meet or exceed Pipeline/Wins/Sales (PWS) target for the area.
- Create a business plan that focuses on Markets, Clients, Disciplines (planning, traffic, road, rail, bridge, survey, environmental, etc.)
- Lead area in all aspects of business development through involvement in Client Service Teams (CST), Sales, client relationships, performance reviews, creativity, initiative, communication. Provide guidance and support where needed to ensure CSTs are delivering on expectations
- Lead business development / outreach (conferences, outings, participation, etc.)
- Work with Regional Senior Vice President and Market Sector Leaders, to continually monitor and evaluate the revenue producing capabilities of the sales efforts in their area.
- Discussing TS’s largest Clients in each region, focus efforts with help from MSL and key business development leaders
- Provide guidance and support where needed for proposals/RFQ’s and Go/No-Go decisions.
- Work with Regional Senior Vice President and Corporate Team to identify and capitalize on acquisition targets.
Qualifications:
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in an area related to company’s business with a minimum of 10 years of successful management and operations experience in a transportation related professional services field.
- Appropriate certifications and licenses required of their applicable field of expertise.
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate the mission and objectives of the company to all levels of employees within the offices in their designated Area.
- Strong understanding of our business and the ability to create short and long-term plans to
- achieve the Company’s Strategic Plan.
- Ability to define and solve operational and operational problems and issues in a timely and effective manner.
