About the Job
We are seeking a Director of Sales for our full-service, independent, four-season resort in the beautiful Adirondack region of New York. As the Director of Sales, you play a critical role in building and nurturing relationships with prospective and existing clients. Your astute decisions contribute to our revenue streams, ensuring they coincide with or surpass our financial forecasts. You will oversee all sales activities, strategically making decisions that contribute to the growth and value of the hotel. Your responsibilities also extend to managing our brand relationships and harnessing business tools for the best benefit of the property.
In addition to prospecting and forging relationships with new clients, you will be responsible for marketing initiatives, including managing our social media presence and ensuring the profitability of all our revenue sources. This role requires superior leadership, support, and development of the Sales Managers/Catering Managers and any Coordinators.
Responsibilities
· Develop and Execute Sales Strategies: Formulate comprehensive sales strategies that align with the hotel's goals, focusing on the growth of key market segments.
· Lead Sales Team: Provide leadership and guidance to the sales team, setting clear objectives and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
· Account Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
· Leadership Ability to effectively motivate, mentor, coach & counsel others to perform well (including appropriate documentation)
· Customer Service: Deliver hospitable service that is attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous; demonstrate patience, tact, and diplomacy.
· People Skills Ability to collaborate, create rapport, and work effectively with others; earn and maintain trust and respect.
· Market Analysis: Regularly analyze trends, opportunities, and competitors to inform sales strategies.
· Revenue Maximization: Collaborate closely with the revenue management team to optimize pricing and enhance yield.
· Computer Skills/ Technical Aptitude Proficiency in computer technology, i.e., e-mail, MS Word, Excel, & other hotel-related systems. Utilize technology to enhance organizational efficiency.
· Partnership Development: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with tour operators, travel agents, and other relevant industry stakeholders.
· Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare detailed sales reports and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to hotel management.
· Digital Marketing Must stay current on digital marketing and social media trends.
Qualifications
· A minimum of 5 years of previous Director of Hotel Sales experience from a full-service resort or hotel
· A proven record in senior sales management roles, ideally within the hospitality sector, demonstrating the ability to drive sales growth and lead teams to success.
· A strong grasp of hotel and resort operations, with the ability to integrate sales efforts with revenue management strategies effectively.
· Advanced skills in communication and negotiation, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and cultivate positive client relationships.
· Demonstrated history of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets, highlighting a strategic, purposeful approach.
· Proficient in analyzing market trends and translating data into actionable strategies that enhance competitive positioning.
· A bachelors degree in business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field, with a masters degree being an added advantage.
· Excellent interpersonal abilities to motivate and collaborate with a diverse team, fostering an environment of accountability and high performance.
