SUMMARY
The Director of Social Enterprise is a visionary and strategic leader dedicated to advancing Life Unlimited’s social enterprise initiatives. This role focuses on the development and successful operation of a new coffee and ice cream business, aimed at providing valuable employment training and opportunities for individuals with disabilities, generating sustainable revenue, and fostering strong community partnerships.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan for Life Unlimited’s coffee and ice cream enterprise, ensuring it meets employment training goals, generates sustainable revenue, and cultivates community partnerships.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with organizational leadership to regularly assess and refine the business plan, ensuring ongoing success and alignment with employment program objectives.
- Future Initiatives: Identify and evaluate potential new social enterprise initiatives in collaboration with leadership.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & OPERATIONS
- Tailored Job Training: Working with the Employment Services Department and Chief Program Officer, oversee the design and implementation of a job training program within the coffee and ice cream business, tailored to the unique needs of individuals with disabilities, focusing on skills development and hands-on experience.
- Collaborative Integration: Work with our employment services and other programs to ensure program effectiveness, participant engagement, financial sustainability and alignment with organizational goals.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a diverse team, providing training, support, and mentorship to foster skill enhancement and a positive workplace culture.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Relationship Building: Actively cultivate relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote Life Unlimited and its social enterprise initiatives.
- Outreach Initiatives: Engage the community through outreach, events, and partnerships that raise awareness about the importance of employment for individuals with disabilities.
- Inclusivity Advocacy: Foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration within the community, encouraging active participation and support for our programs.
MARKETING & BRAND DEVELOPMENT
- Strategic Marketing: Collaborate with Life Unlimited’s Marketing and External Relations teams to develop and implement a marketing strategy that promotes the coffee and ice cream shop while emphasizing our commitment to disability advocacy, community engagement, and social impact.
- All Other Duties as Assigned
Physical Expectations
- This position requires extended periods of walking and standing with some periods of sitting which is dependent upon the needs and activities of the individuals supported. It may require light to heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds independently, and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and/or climbing stairs depending on the needs of the individual supported.
Working Conditions
- Office/home environment with potential noise from appliances, telephones, and occasional small machinery.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and/or infectious diseases may occur.
- Flexibility in hours may be required to meet the unexpected needs of individuals (e.g., medical or behavioral).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development or social enterprise, with a proven track record of financial success and team leadership.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse community members.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Must obtain Class E license during TMO– must carry minimum coverage applicable by law for auto insurance
- Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination
