Position Summary
The Director of Stewardship and Recognition Operations provides comprehensive leadership to ensure our systems and processes encourage and protect the stewardship, recognition, and experience of our donors. This role will oversee and direct the proactive strategies, processes, and guidelines related to donor recognition and acknowledgement, guest interaction and experience, and collaboration with university partners. This position plays an instrumental part in the SDSU Foundation’s success, acting as an essential link between various internal team members, university leaders and units, and donors, providing collaborative leadership to inform effective prospect and project strategies and achieve fundraising goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborative Leadership
Associate or bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. At least five years of professional experience in related field (such as communications, administrative support, customer service, compliance, or data entry) is required. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualified individuals will possess the following:
Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and some lifting. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office and/or clerical equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborative Leadership
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring to team members and assist in developing and monitoring progress towards short and long-term goals particularly those that support the Foundation’s strategic plan
- Facilitate communication and collaboration within and across internal departments, developing processes and making recommendations as appropriate to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and information sharing.
- Maintain a knowledge of current fundraising priorities within the university.
- Design, execute, and evaluate a cross-department, multi-faceted stewardship and recognition plan which acknowledges, celebrates, and demonstrates gratitude and recognition of donors at all levels.
- Oversee the stewardship and recognition processes, strategies, and best practices to maintain regular process and cadence in acknowledgement.
- Oversee the tracking of named spaces and donor recognition signage in database, including interior and exterior signs, donor walls, and other recognition vehicles, and proactively prompt reviews.
- Collaborate with Creative Services to strategize and execute stewardship and recognition efforts related to events, signage, impact reporting, and other stewardship efforts.
- Facilitate and oversee the recognition and stewardship of principal gifts including but not limited to endowed faculty positions.
- Oversee the collaboration of internal departments as it relates to guest experience and hospitality.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet the organization’s needs.

- High energy, positive attitude, and high degree of initiative.
- Proficient experience using the most recent versions of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (i.e. MSWord, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
