Director of Strategic Expansion
Job Overview: Our client is looking for a remote Director of Strategic Expansion to join their team. The Director of Strategic Expansion will be instrumental in driving company growth by identifying and cultivating Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) opportunities, with a particular emphasis on Managing General Agents (MGA). This role entails collaborating with the Executive Leadership Team, spearheading strategic initiatives, conducting market analyses, building relationships with key stakeholders, and overseeing MGA operations to align with the company’s expansion objectives.
This is a Direct Hire role.
What you will be doing as a Director of Strategic Expansion…
- Develop and implement a robust process for sourcing and evaluating M&A opportunities involving MGAs, underwriters, and producers.
- Partner with Executive Leadership to ensure M&A strategies are aligned with the company’s overarching business goals.
- Create and execute comprehensive M&A strategies, including due diligence, negotiation, and integration processes.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the MGA landscape.
- Maintain regular communication with M&A candidates, underwriters, and producers to ensure timely recruitment processes.
- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of M&A projects from initial assessment through post-acquisition integration.
- Design and implement operational strategies to support the integration of acquired entities and enhance their performance.
- Define roles and expectations for service personnel, collaborating with colleagues to establish metrics and benchmarks for efficiency, quality, and cost-effective resource management.
- Take ownership of individual activity goals and track key performance metrics to measure success.
- Collaborate with the Executive Team and divisional EVPs to forecast M&A, underwriting, and producer development plans to meet established goals.
- Develop a "best in class" MGA service platform, ensuring consistent education and implementation, while optimizing performance through annual evaluations.
- Maintain a monthly communication strategy to keep executive leaders, EVPs, and Talent Experience updated on the progress of M&A, underwriting, and producer initiatives.
- Represent the company in industry meetings and forums, acting as a brand ambassador in the community through active event participation.
- Address conflicts constructively by engaging in open discussions with relevant parties.
- Contribute as a team leader/member on cross-departmental initiatives, articulating strategic plans effectively.
- Manage workload efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Utilize technology to streamline administrative processes and enhance the client experience.
- Foster a culture of learning and collaboration, continually seeking to expand knowledge and skills.
- Communicate positively and respectfully with team members, promoting a cohesive work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the insurance industry.
- At least 5 years of proven success in sales.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic PowerPoint.
