Emory Law welcomes qualified, mission-focused legal education professionals to apply for its Director of Student Engagement and Conduct position. The director will join the Emory Law team to work collaboratively and proactively with students, faculty, alumni, and staff to ensure the school develops legal leaders by assisting current students to develop the characteristics needed to succeed in the legal profession. As a subject matter expert on engagement, the director utilizes their knowledge of school priorities, university policy, and best practices to effective, appropriate engagement from the constituencies served by the school. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + Under the direction of the faculty or senior staff administration, this position is responsible for shaping and facilitating the development of students within a professional school as they prepare for a life-long career in the law. + Serve as the Title IX Deputy Coordinator for the school and act as a liaison to the university Title IX office. + Proactively interact with students to hone leadership potential. + Redirect student behaviors that are contrary to a professional learning environment and may lead to conduct issues. + Actively participate and collaborate with faculty and staff to prevent issues through Student of Concern meetings. + Manage the conduct process for the school. + Provide oversight and guidance to the Student Bar Association to include budget management and fund allocation. + Advise students on administrative processes to aid in their understanding and guide them to compliance. + Develop and manage Wellness Programs for students within the school through existing community and university resources while developing new resources as appropriate. + Develop and utilize the Houses and student House Leaders within the school of law to advance the non-academic professional development of the student body. + Provide oversight of student organizations and student fairs. + Take an active leadership role on planning and executing school-wide events like orientation, visiting day, and graduation. + Prepare operational, statistical, and narrative reports for Law School and University administration. + Serve on Law School and University committees as appropriate. + May supervise or lead staff to include student employees. + Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Juris Doctor + Member (active or inactive) of a state bar + Five years of legal practice experience + Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with diverse constituencies, including those from underrepresented populations + Previous experience working on sensitive issues requiring confidentiality, diplomacy, and mediation skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Experience working in higher education. + Knowledge of Title IX requirements and administration of Title IX within a unit of a university. + Demonstrated experience with wellness programs within the legal profession. To Apply + Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled with a first review on October 4. + First round zoom interviews occur in mid-October. + Final round in-person interviews occur in early November. + The position will ideally start in January for the spring semester. + Cover Letter + We acknowledge that it takes time to complete a cover letter. Notes + This is a seasonal position working 10 months per year (approximately July 15 – May 15) with the exact dates subject to change based on the school of law’s Diploma Ceremony in May. + The position will work some evenings and weekends as needed to support student organizations. + The position works primarily on campus with flexibility available per the Emory Law Flexible Workplace Policy.
