About the Job
The Director of Transportation is primarily responsible for the execution of daily distribution operations with an emphasis on delivery transportation processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 8+ years related transportation leadership experience.
- Transportation technology software proficiency such as with routing programs, payroll, Excel spreadsheets, electronic logging programs, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to take ownership and be accountable for issue resolution and general customer satisfaction.
Position responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Serve as a highly motivated leader with ability to interact effectively with others.
- Collaborate with other managers or staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
- Plan, organize, direct and manage the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of employees.
- Analyze expenditures, review reports and other financial information to develop plans, budgets and policies for increasing profits and/or improving services.
- Recommends capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
- Promote and support an effective safety culture to include directing investigation of all accidents, recommend corrective actions, conducts safety audits, attend safety meetings, ensure employees are following all safety policies and procedures in compliance with DOT regulations. Ensures compliance with transportation related administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
