**Role Summary:** The Director of Operations has direct P&L ownership and is responsible for leading the department to achieve company targets and goals. This leader will supervise the operations team's performance, including load building/tenders, route planning, driver management, and customer support to ensure efficient and profitable utilization while maintaining an acceptable level of driver morale and providing a high level of customer service.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ The primary objective is to ensure each location is operating safely, profitably, and efficiently based on contractual commitments while ensuring strong business relationships and confidence are established and maintained.
+ Direct management of 4-6 Managers of Operations who oversee a staff of Fleet Operations personnel including Class A CDL drivers. Lead the department to accomplish company targets and goals.
+ Meet profit and growth objectives and drive consistent operational performance across all locations with a focus on safety, service, continuous improvement opportunities, and cost. Ensure all operations are optimally staffed and organized to maximize performance and service delivery.
+ Direct P&L responsibility of a fleet of up to $50M in Revenue. Identifies synergies among all the locations to drive productivity and implement best practices. Works with the Management Team to develop and implement business plans to improve financial performance year over year.
+ Understand the competitive landscape of the customer's business and align resources to develop a solution. Establish relationships with key local customer contacts and partner with the Customer Experience team on broader customer relationships.
+ Collaborates with the Customer Experience team to assist in customer rate increases, scope changes, and other negotiations.
+ Instill in the team members that safe performance is a critical element required to achieve success and is a recognized indicator of individual and team effectiveness. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
+ Develop a balanced fleet/asset approach that promotes utilization, safety, service, and driver success. Focuses specifically on trailer management and utilization. Maintain visibility to units on order and units terming to ensure equipment is properly situated in a timely manner.
+ Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Operations.
**Experience, Education, and Qualifications**
+ 8 - 10 years of related transportation experience, including 5 - 8 years of managerial experience, and multi-site P&L responsibility is required.
+ Multi-level presentation & communication skills (internally and externally) are required.
+ Strong financial acumen, problem-solving, and process improvement skills are required.
+ Has an aggressive cost reduction and cost management philosophy.
+ Understands Dedicated pricing logic and interpreting an income statement.
+ A bachelor's degree in business or supply chain management is preferred.
**This leader will be required to reside and travel within the Pacific NorthWest region.**
