Role Summary:The Director, Policy & Procedure set the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of the Policy & Procedure (P&P) team at Alaska Airlines (AS). As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction for a team of leaders to ensure safe and consistent station operations and customer service through the development and execution of effective policies and procedures.
Key Duties:- Establish strategic goals and direct the development, maintenance, and implementation of Airport Operations & Customer Service (AOCS) and Cargo policies and procedures, ensuring safety, compliance and operational needs are met.
- Manage accountable frontline communication strategies to ensure policies, procedures, and safety alerts are clearly explained.
- Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and disciplines
- Shape culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors
- Develop budget for the team and exercise the fiduciary responsibilities expected of a budget owner
- Partner cross-functionally within Airport Operations & Customer Service (e.g., training and development, airport leadership. development, compliance teams, and other stakeholders) and cross-divisionally to drive the application of effective and consistent policies and procedures.
- Set long-term strategy for policies and procedures with a 12+ month horizon.
Required
- 8 years of combined airline operations management, policy and procedure, or other related experience.
- 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 of those years directly leading people.
- Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
- Deep experience leading cross-divisional projects and delivering on time and within budget.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company directly (particularly with direct reports) and indirectly with others in the organization (e.g., executive sponsors, sponsors, or other stakeholders).
- Ability to move quickly and drive action within the team.
- High energy, positive, and executive-level presence, along with top-notch written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Lean process design and Safety Management System (SMS) knowledge.
- Director-level experience managing through managers.
- Ability to influence change and initiate actions that have strategic impact and drive a high-performance culture.
- Ability to set strategy and develop and monitor action plans to execute strategy.

The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
