Director, Product Development and Sourcing - Boston Proper

We are searching for a Director, Product Development and Sourcing. This position reports directly
to the Vice President, Supply Chain and is responsible for developing the global sourcing strategy that
supports the product strategies while ensuring top line financial and business objectives are achieved.
This role is responsible for contributing and supporting decisions regarding seasonal product
development strategies by providing country, vendor, and fabrics strategies; technical product
guidance; cost option analysis to inform decision making regarding what is needed to hit topline
financials and to identify risks and opportunities for assigned categories.

Key Responsibilities:

ï‚· Develop, implement, and optimize global sourcing strategy to align with product strategies.
Align sourcing countries and vendors to achieve key performance indicators (gross sales, item
mark-up, average unit cost, on-time delivery, returns rates)
ï‚· Provide in-season costing strategies by leveraging unit volume, fabric consolidation and style
consolidation
ï‚· Partners with design, merchant partners and planning on pre-season and in-season research &
development targets, goals, and objectives to ensure efforts align with fiscal and event targets
ï‚· Drive adherence to calendar milestones and deliverables while making recommendations and
callouts regarding meeting cadence, process improvements and efforts to drive efficient use of
team's time
ï‚· Own vendor relationships
ï‚· Build and develop high performing team; defines a clear vision and motivate others to achieve
goals; can resolve conflicts easily and with minimal noise while protecting cross-functional
partnerships
ï‚· Build and foster relationships with design, technical design, and merchant partners to lead in a
collaborative style as well as communicate in an engaging impactful manner Strong
organizational and time management skills
ï‚· Owns product development and sourcing process Improvement; understand and value the
need to access and improve processes to drive efficiencies

Experience/Requirements:

ï‚· Bachelor's Degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or Textiles preferred
ï‚· 10+ years progressive leadership experience in apparel product development, sourcing, and
manufacturing
ï‚· 5+ years leading direct reports and cross-functional teams
ï‚· Demonstrated business savvy through analytical thinking, problem solving with in-depth
knowledge of key performance indicators
ï‚· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to think innovatively and
strategically
ï‚· Deep technical product knowledge including strong understanding of vendor operations,
safety, product compliance, creative and product development processes
ï‚· Demonstrated experience leading and influencing change
ï‚· Demonstrated ability to work independently, to set priorities and timelines, and meet
challenging and changing deadlines
