THE OPPORTUNITY
The Director, Program Management (DPMO) is responsible for the management of Galvion's Advanced Capabilities and Power & Data Systems Lines of Business programs and projects. The DPMO is responsible for the planning, execution and control of internally and externally funded projects and programs. Span of responsibility includes cost, schedule, and performance across the full life cycle of the program or project. They are responsible for program and project planning from bid/capture through execution. They directly supervise and manage all program managers and are accountable for program/project performance throughout the lines of business. The DPMO works in concert with Engineering, Business Development and Sales, Product Management and Strategy to execute customer and business objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
People:
- Manage Program Managers within the PMO, to include coaching, mentoring, and training to achieve established weekly, monthly and annual objective.
- Coordinate and/or integrate personnel from various departments into to teams or task forces as required to meet customer and business goals.
- Work proactively across functions and the lines of business to ensure program and projects meet or exceed customer objectives.
- Work collaboratively with Business Development, Sales and Project Management teams to win new business.
- Drive teams to meet program/project requirements, achieve a high level of performance and accountability.
Process
- Define and manage PM best practices to ensure consistent program management across the lines of business.
- Develop and execute risk management plans.
- Integrate across all stages of the Galvion stage gate process.
- Utilize the current tools within the business and make recommendations for new tools to manage information, project plan, status and meet goals.
- Manage whitepaper and proposal responses through the bid process: bid decision to submission
Performance
- Plan and secure required human, financial, operational and technical resources to meet each program or project's goals.
- Generate creative solutions to competing programs.
- Develop, maintain and be responsible for project performance across budget, schedule and performance.
- Work cross-functionally to remove roadblocks, solve conflicts and drive exceptional program performance.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred, MBA preferred
15+ years' experience in a program/project management in a technical, product-oriented company
Experience managing and developing products to meet highly defined, customer technical requirements and technical standards
Demonstrated program management experience leading cross-functional teams successfully and in a cost-effective way
Proven success from bid/proposal through program execution and delivery
Experienced in thriving in a high velocity environment
Ability to align and lead team leaders
Continuous improvement mindset, ability to learn quickly
Able to develop and grown staff
Outstanding interpersonal skills and work in a matrix environment
Responsiveness to external and internal customers and a can-do, positive attitude are a must
Strong verbal communication and writing skills required
Defense experience highly desired, military experience a plus
Work environment (include physical requirements)
- Office base environment.
- Approximately 20% travel including international
