About the Job
The Director, Tax Reporting and Compliance will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success and compliance of our organization. It has responsibility for global Tax Provision/Consolidation, and for Tax Compliance in the Americas.
You will have the exciting opportunity to oversee the quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, as well as the responsibility for the Americas Direct Tax function, directly reporting to the VP Global Tax Reporting and Compliance. A Hybrid-remote role based out of our Chicago, Illinois location, you will interact with all aspects of accounting for income taxes and global tax compliance. Your expertise and guidance will have a direct impact on our financial reporting accuracy and help shape our tax strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, coordinate, and prepare the consolidated quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, including the worldwide effective tax rate, deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and tax footnote.
- Maintain SOX control documentation and processes while identifying and mitigating tax risks through effective controls and procedures.
- Lead the Americas Direct Tax function in coordination with third party co-sourcing team.
- Coordinate the preparation of the global cash tax forecasting analysis.
- Ensure proper purchase accounting and compliance reporting of M&A transactions.
- Identify and implement automation, efficiency, and improvement projects for the tax accounting and compliance function.
- Lead and facilitate information gathering required by external auditors.
- Research and document analysis of ad hoc tax issues to support management inquires, estimate impact of proposed/enacted tax legislation, etc., as requested.
- Develop, mentor, and lead a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Work closely with finance, legal, and other departments to support business initiatives and ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
- Assist with other projects as necessary.
Requirements:
- Eight to twelve years of relevant tax accounting experience in public accounting or large multinational company.
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance required, MST Preferred
- Certified Public Accountant preferred.
- Technical knowledge of income tax accounting standards and application of ASC 740.
- Experience with public company financial statement audits.
- Technical knowledge of U.S. Federal and state income tax laws and regulations
- Familiarity with One Source Tax Provision or other comparable resources.
- Experience managing direct reports, including coaching and developing staff.
- Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Positive attitude, good work ethic, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Experience with PowerBI, Alteryx, and similar automation tools preferred.
