About the Job
As the Director of Tax, you will play a pivotal role overseeing Abnormal Security’s tax strategy and compliance. Your primary responsibilities include ensuring Abnormals Tax filings are accurate and submitted on time adhering to local, state and federal regulations, develop international strategies to minimize tax liabilities, provide guidance to the scaling team, collaborate with key stakeholders, and are up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations. This role reports into VP & Controller.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee U.S. federal, state and international tax compliance process, including indirect taxes, subpart F income, GILTI, R&D and foreign tax credits, VAT matters (?) and expense allocations.
• Provide strategic direction, technical guidance, and leadership on all tax matters impacting the company.
• Recognize complex technical tax issues, perform research and analysis to support management decision-making.
• Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the companys tax liability while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
• Oversee the preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies
• Provide guidance and support to internal teams on tax implications of business decisions and transactions
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, and assess their impact on the company
• Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and fostering their professional development
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions
• Participate in strategic financial planning and provide insights on tax implications of potential business opportunities
Must Haves:
• 10 years’ experience in the tax function of a public company with a global presence (a minimum of five of which should be in a management position), is required.
• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Tax or Finance and CPA license, is required.
• Previous experience leading tax and demonstrated ability to manage a variety of domestic and international tax matters, compliance, indirect tax, transfer pricing, sales and payroll tax matters independently and have the capability to dissect specialized matters and analysis inform decision making.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls/SOX and financial reporting requirements in a public company setting, is required.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment, highly driven with the ability to conduct multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects, especially long-term.
