Position Overview
The Terminal Manager is accountable for establishing ITS culture, meeting growth and profit expectations, and safely executing daily operational activities in support of our customers within their terminal. Responsibilities include but are not limited to meeting customer service requirements, driver planning and management, collaborating with peers to manage equipment requirements, driving a safety culture, DOT compliance, and business development to include opening opportunities for other ITS business units.
Principle Accountabilities
Full Terminal P&L ownership and forecasting responsibility
Review and analyze expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine strategies and requirements for increasing profits and improving processes. Prepare recommendations on findings for regional management evaluation
Partner with Enterprise Sales Team to develop a strategy for the Terminal that promotes strategic business growth
Build trusted customer relationships that unlock opportunities for Terminal growth as well as opening doors for other ITS business units and drive behaviors to make sure the relationships are successful
Prepare and implement action plans to ensure drivers and equipment are productively utilized and service goals are achieved
Understand market rates and employ negotiation skills to ensure that a balanced decision is being reached to meet customer, employee and the Company's business need
Manage safety in accordance with Company, OSHA, and DOT guidelines and ensure all personnel adheres to ITS Logistics behavioral standards regarding safety
Recruit and promote driver retention by providing support, counsel, and assistance to operations and drivers
Create and implement strategic plans for Terminal functions and performance
Develop effective working relationships with local leaders of other ITS business units
Ensure that appropriate processes are in place to submit all necessary compliance and billing paperwork timely
Interpret, implement, and enforce Terminal Work Instructions and Company policies
Function as Leader, emulating the behaviors expected by the company of all employees
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will have a strong balance of strategic and tactical business development and operations acumen to perform the position's duties. Specific skills and abilities include but are not limited to:
- Candidates must have proven leadership experience and the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment.
- Eight to ten (8 – 10) years' experience in fleet / transportation operations management (3PL experience helpful but not required)
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to negotiate and influence others
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with Drivers, peers, subordinates, customers, vendors and suppliers
- Excellent analytical, judgment and critical thinking skills
- Has a strong sense of urgency and reacts and works well in fast-paced, deadline driven, and high-pressure situations; remains calm and performs well in stressful or emergency situations
- Strong Organizational / Communication/ and Logistical skills with solid problem-solving abilities
- Evaluate existing processes; identify improvements and implement improved methods
- Strong work ethic and internally motivated to exceed all commitments and requirements of the position
- Knowledge of the Region and surrounding areas
