Position Summary:
Vallen’s Director of Vending Operations is responsible for oversight and management of Vallen’s Vending Operations and implementations teams. Vending Services is an inventory management system that combines advanced technology with industrial vending to drive productivity and reduce costs for businesses. This is a senior leadership position that directs and provides oversight of the Vending Managers and the specialists on their teams.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages Vending Operations team and provides directional oversight on the following activities:
- Facilitation of the sales cycle, implementation, and customer go-live utilizing Vallen resources
- Management and delegation of kick-off meetings and communication with project stakeholders to discuss customer needs requirements, customizations, and project timelines.
- Providing solution recommendations based on Vallen's value, customer goals, and objectives.
- Collection and review of all customer information sheets to ensure customer requirements are documented and complete.
- Confirmation of financial fit for new opportunities
- Utilization of configuration software to recommend the best vending option and layout for customers
- Validation whether form, fit and function of the software-recommended vending option meets the needs of the customer.
- Site readiness assessments such as review space requirements, test sample badges, test internet connectivity, and speed.
- Coordination of customer service requests to deploy, redeploy or disengage the solution in accordance with operational procedures.
- Monitor and maintain project schedules to maximize productivity and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Regulate Vending Solution Performance and Reporting
- Process improvement initiatives (e.g. hardware and software enhancements, inventory control development).
- 24/7 tech support for the Vending solution on a rotational basis.
- Maintenance, monitoring, and adherence to the Vending Customer pipeline
- Provide vending hardware recommendations for agreements for new opportunities and renewals.
- Identification and resolution of Vend/VMI process barriers such as bottlenecks, technology, and/or resource constraints.
- Resolution of escalated customer support issues.
- Recommendation and implementation process improvements to department policies, procedures, and processes.
- Facilitate meetings with customers regarding solution optimization, enhancements, and/or upgrades.
- Collaboration with the VMI team to ensure that VMI and Vending areas are set up in accordance with new customer expectations and Vallen standards
Staff Management Responsibilities:
Direct management of a department, section, unit, or group involving responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods, and personnel. Full accountability for hiring, discipline, discharge, performance appraisals, salary administration, etc.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Relevant work experience should include:
- 7+ years management experience leading a dedicated team
- Product and/or industry knowledge is preferred (e.g. Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Vending)
- Project management experience
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Excellent PC skills including, but not limited to; MS Word, MS Outlook, Visio
- Demonstrated advanced level skills in Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills

Long periods working on a computer and performing keyboarding activities. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Travel required: Approximately 20% of the time, international and domestic travel and will require overnight and/or out-of-town stays (via vehicle and commercial/commuter airplanes, etc.). Travel to customer sites that may consist of plant operations, warehouses, and/or industrial storeroom environments. Occasional travel to other Vallen offices.
